Summer’s End

The end
Comes with August
Days full of sun and heat
A month consumed with summer fun
Now gone

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

This poem, "Summer's End," is a succinct and evocative piece that captures the fleeting nature of summer. However, there are a few areas where it could potentially be improved.

Firstly, the poem could benefit from more specific imagery. While "Days full of sun and heat" and "A month consumed with summer fun" are effective in conveying the general atmosphere of summer, they could be more engaging if they were replaced with more specific details. For instance, the poet might consider describing specific activities that encapsulate "summer fun" or the particular sensations that the "sun and heat" evoke.

Secondly, the poem's rhythm and meter could be more consistent. The first two lines have two syllables each, the third line has six syllables, the fourth line has seven syllables, and the final line has two syllables. This irregular pattern can make the poem feel somewhat disjointed. The poet might consider revising the poem to have a more regular syllable count per line.

Finally, the poem's theme of the transience of summer could be developed further. The poem effectively conveys the idea that summer is ending, but it could delve deeper into the implications of this. For example, the poet might explore the feelings of nostalgia, regret, or anticipation that the end of summer can evoke.

Overall, while "Summer's End" is a promising poem, it could be improved by incorporating more specific imagery, establishing a more consistent rhythm, and further developing its theme.

I felt like Summer is indeed, almost over. I didn't mind the syllable count being a bit ragged, it sort of makes the whole thing a little better for me. I'm feeling like "Yes, summer is almost over but there is still some heat in it and some events to [ I know this may sound a little odd,] be consumed. I picture hot dogs and hamburgers and watermelon to be eaten on these last hot, sultry summer days. Nice! ~ Geezer.

You have been steadily improving and I see you trying different things all the time. You make the effort to change the things that hold you back and I see you very often edit and change things, [something that a lot of people don't do.] A good many of the people who write, don't change or improve what they have written and keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Those are the ones that I despair of ever helping. Keep trying and I will help wherever and whenever I can. I am not the greatest writer and still have things to learn, but I learn; even from you! ~ Geez.
