Doubt

Shall I forget you
as doubt does faith
Picking through our pieces
in fistfuls of frayed ends
and bitter days
Will you replace me
as night does day
Certain that where we stood
is where we'll stay
The ghosts that held me
when you met me
have me still
They overflow the vessel
and need a forge
What fantasy couldn't make
we cannot afford

This is poignant in its longing. I can't see anything to suggest.

Well done!

Kind regards Jayne

how do you do it? write such heart rendering poems that make the reader ache? I usually quote part of the poem back to the author (my favorite lines) but to do so in this case would damage this most excellent piece!

I'm thinking on your questions and what a kind thing to ponder that you are so moved and enjoy my work as to ask such thoughtful questions. I am highly observant. I think that helps. Writing anyway. It costs in other ways. I am extremely self aware. To a detrimental degree. There is rarely a time in my waking world I dont feel as though I am being observed on some level even though logically aware it is an ...idiosyncrasy Ive come to call it :) I pay attention to and value the parts of life that cut me as readily as the ones that sway and elate me. All of them so damn necessary. I am an introvert. I keep to myself and think a LOT. I go over the words in my mind and on the page again and again like listening to music til it's just right. I don't have a set method. Oh and I do tend to listen to music white writing and sway a certain way when I get the words just right.
