Dinner with mother!

If wishes were fishes
I'd catch a big cod.
Plump with white meat
I'd eat it by god.
I'd fillet it and then
I'd get a big pan.
Lace it with butter
then throw the mess in.
Set the table for two,
Pick a bottle of wine
say grace and amen!
Then sit with mother to dine.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem "Dinner with mother!" presents a clear narrative and uses a consistent rhyme scheme, which aids in the flow and comprehension of the piece. However, there are areas where the poem could be improved.

Firstly, the poem could benefit from a more varied use of language. The vocabulary is quite simple and straightforward, which can limit the depth and richness of the imagery. For instance, instead of "I'd catch a big cod," consider using more descriptive language to paint a vivid picture of the cod.

Secondly, the rhythm of the poem is inconsistent, which can disrupt the flow. For example, the line "Lace it with butter then throw the mess in" has more syllables than the other lines, making it feel out of place. Adjusting the syllable count to match the other lines could improve the rhythm.

Lastly, the poem could be more effective if it delved deeper into the relationship between the speaker and their mother. The title and the last line suggest that this relationship is a central theme, but the poem does not explore this in depth. Adding more details about the mother, the speaker's feelings towards her, or their shared history could make the poem more engaging and emotionally resonant.
