THE WRATHFUL SEA

Her salted bludgeoning maw
swallowed vessels and galleys
with its green saline gullet of
ulcers
barnacles, and a throat full of oily
spots of acne sticky limpets

Treasures guarded by a circle
of sharks in an ocean restaurant
pinching crabs,
and swaying seaweed keeping naval
secrets.

A wave of wrathfulness, tossing
clubbing, floating ships, drowning
them into the abyss.
stripping seamen Into
skeletons with silent screams.

Supported by a howling killer
of a storm . Ripping, blowing holes
into arthritis wooden decks into oblivion
into the coldest dark depths.

Grandiose Majestic Mountain

There stood a majestic
Craggy face with razor blade
Edges of a monstrous
time honoured mountain

Turning its rocky nose up
at anything below him, robust
Jagged and risky, high stabbing
armour with White shark tip
Cut throated fins.

Bald rugged with a silent manner
cold stone as white as marshmallow
steep and strong, bold and old
broad frosted shoulders

With powdered freckles and a storm grey
complexion it wore a white necklace
and a frosted crown, made
by heaven.

AUTUMN'S CUSP

Mid October a cool day
with a northern cooling breeze.
All hints of summer gone away.
The few green leaves are just a tease.

Tomorrow will bring the first frost
so this day finds me 'neath the trees
absorbing warmth before its lost
and limbering up titanium knees.

For I'm not what I once was.
Time has seen that I am not,
So I sit on a stump to take a pause
and breathe autumn's scent which I'd forgot.

Then turn my face up to the sky
as cool front winds begin to blow.
I watch the clouds as they race by.
They leave like friends I used to know.

My eyes water from sun's glare
so I drop my head down to my chest
letting my chin settle there
while I count the ways that I am blessed.

I'm blessed with our cabin in the trees
I'm blessed with seeing one more fall.
I'm blessed with grandchildren to tease.
I'm blessed with being here at all.

I watch a squirrel climb to its nest
for now the sun is getting low
so ere' it reaches ridge's crest
I arise then turn and go.

 Cage of cards

 Chaotically clustered
cage of
cards covering
all
cynically silent
sides of life
plainly plastered
before my
persistently passing
presence of
the present day.
Thoughtlessly thrashing
out the leisurely
overlapping lanes
of possibilities
prancing through
the pressuring palms
of probability.
With a single stern stomp
taking back the cross
mask of control.
There steadily
stumbled down
the obliquely built
walls of ambiguity
freely falling at
my frivolously
fleeting feet.
Vigorously revealing
the vaguely vapid
valley of victorious
vultures who
persistently preys
upon the weak
minded ones
who decisively numb
themselves within naivety .
But still
I walk forth
ahead through
the foreboding facade
of fear
lying before me.

Echoes

Once there was a man
Who wrote beautiful music
He wrote the music because he was sad
He was sad because he was all alone

But he was noticed for his music
He ended up being loved for it
And in being loved
He lost his sadness
And his music soon after

The stream (all workshops)

This is the stream - you can see all poems on Neopoet, live, as they are created.

I'll try this again

Don't expect a clever rhyme
or any big adjectives
or an attempt
at perfect structure

That comes in a song
or someone else's
poem

I simply type a line
and then another
they don't mesh
together all that well
the subject matter
isn't overly deep
or profound

And I don't worry
about proper punctuation
or make a conscious effort
regarding rhythm
or pacing
or alliteration

Hello Prosaic Poet

.....And in you I see a writer with a wonderful gift; capable of such beautifully eloquent writing. You are a true artist and are, in my opinion, unequalled in your ability to express yourself. I am, truly, your fan and enjoy our prosaic connection

Wise Appreciation

Thy words of wisdom,
The evaluation
Of a prosaic poet,
Is in itself
A sign of divinity
Upon whose shoulders
Rests human dignity
To appreciate is in it
A gift divine,
It’s like drinking love
With eyes,
Like wine

GOLDEN BALLERINA ( alternate forms )

As promised here are 3 more forms

Free Verse

The high wind swirls in this ravine
setting off whirl winds, scattered
mostly defined by dirt and duff
save one

A single golden poplar leaf
freshly fallen and still perfect
twists and turns pirouetting
joyfully

Climbing higher, ever higher
becoming a mere speck
then releases for a terminal tumble
floating in a lengthy falling
its final swan song ballet

Western Classic

sanctity of quiet

sanctity of quiet

quiet is sanctity
of one --
an insouciance

caring free
nonchalance
as grape vines
burgeon fruit

a fly buzzes farmlands --
light shines
dappled between feathers
of birds in flight

not counting quills
to stay aloft --

avian brains
balanced as no others
know

but perhaps humans
who trod thin edges
of silent way

long and narrow
the path
pitfalls each on each side

A Gun

A gun cause’s harm
To the innocent
Give justice to the guilty
Not so much the gun, but
The soul behind the gun

GOLDEN BALLERINA

I am posting this Haiku today and will expand into three other forms tomorrow

A lone poplar leaf
swirling in an autumn wind
a golden ballet

Tomorrow will post i Western Classic, Free Verse, and Parallel forms.............scribbler

Night Shift

While my world sleeps
and the solitude of night
comes crashing in bringing thoughts
which fly around on strings
suspending kites of imagery's
that battle for their place
in mid-flight streams

The tug-o-war
of what was, what is,
and what might be pushes away
the possibility of sweet sleep
I wonder, will I ever rest?
I close my eyes so tight
but all I see on the curtain of my eyes
are the floating ghost
that look like bright lights

Spirals

.
a spiral is a nice shape
round and round
up and down
three dimensional too

circles, they're ok
lines are cool
but, spirals-------------
-----(here, speechless)---

springy
active
and playful
dancing,
in graceful formulas,
spaciousness
and wonder

spirals wind,
and rewind
and remind me
of the universe
and my connection
with the ALL
and this,
by definition,
definitly
includes
you!

Struggle

Your love asphyxiates, agitating
Stemming my breathe.
I'm struggling for air.

You apply more pressure,
an arm across my neck.
I'm  gasping for freedom.

Suffocating, squeezing so tight,
You're afraid to release me,
Scared I'll take flight.

You overwhelm me.
I’m dizzy and confused,
Losing consciousness.

one more day

one more day

lost chord
is hidden in chaos --

perhaps chaos is lost chord
in disguise

I came into the world screaming
I may stay under protest

but --

listening to lost chord
while still here is
a wonder in itself

midst chaos' clamber
tune keeps me

present

one more day.
