Lost Love

By: Alex Tanner

Should I recall those blissful times
When we like climbing flowers entwined;
Our blossoms scented evenings air
As Love and Lust forsook our cares.

Your laugh was soft and gentle,
A butterflies wings in spring,
Dancing on the sunbeams
Enough to make me sing.

Eyes so bright they sparkled
Diamonds on moonlit snow;
Flashing hither and thither
To make my pulse race so.

We held each other gentle
Yet tight so not to break,
Though deep, our love could never last,
Different paths our lives would take.

For fleeting months we tarried,
Each time we met we knew
This may be the last time
For lovers hours are few.

If I love ten thousand women
Tis you I will recall;
You gave yourself so willing,
For your passion I did fall.

On black nights as the wind howls,
As I lie in a bed so cold,
Your soft voice echoes 'cross the years
To warm my lonely soul.

For Now and Forever

I wish I could tell you all the things I'm thinking.

How I want to hold onto your arm when we walk

How I want to see you every day

How I want to go hiking with you
at that place you told me about

How I desperately want to know what your hand feels like in mine

How your lips feel on mine...

A glorious sound!

The grey of days
reach in to surround me.
To find a new peace
is where I am bound.
To shake off this feeling
and find a rebound.
To replace my footing
on more stable ground.
The future approaches
and with it a challenge.
To give in, or fight
with a glorious sound!

WHITE WHIPS

A flash of lightning illuminating a
golden staircase and forks with violent
Snaps splitting the dome of vastness
Knifing through the cold blackness

Jumping from the black mamba clouds
Then targeting with wild cracks and
Whips splitting the sky in half
With white sparks

M.I.A.( My Inspiration Always

In memories we're intertwined, eternally entwined,
MIA, you left this world, a precious cousin of mine.
Your laughter echoes, softly in the whispering breeze,
In every sunlit meadow, under shadowed trees.

Your absence cuts like a blade, a wound that won't mend,
In my heart, your spirit dwells, a love that never ends.
With tears that cascade like rivers, I mourn your loss each day,
Yet in the depths of sorrow, your light will guide my way.

Silent Voices

SILENT VOICES

by Laurette van der Merwe

Silent voices ... words of love.
Can I hear you speak from above?

Am I deaf or maybe blind?
Is there joy that I will find?

Help me Jesus to run the race!
Every step at Your pace.

Teach me more that I become less.
Destroy my worries and distress.

Fill my life with something new,
that I may live each day for You.

Give me hope and give me strength, that I may run the race full length.

Hear my voice and see my face.
Give me mercy, give me grace..

The Glory Cycle

The River And the Rivulet, the Flood Plain and The Lakes,
The Treasures found In Glory, that Nature ne'er Forsakes,

Those little Urchins that Hop and Fly others that Swim and Slide,
all working together and beside as to their life's Blood slow Subside,

Then once again the Heavens open and the " Burrowers " come out to play,
the "Wrigglers" Worms and Wiley old Water Rat, renew their Blissful Displays,

Are we there yet?

Life is like a journey
that takes us to different
path of emotional rides
it fills with joy of laughter
sorrow of tears
ups and downs
we stand to abide by
the witnessing of life
with the matter of given choices
to embrace with opportunity
make the best out of it
to never take anything
for granted to find
with an excuses
live life to the fullest
carry a memory of
a legacy to remember
until the final day

going forwards

we are all going forward and we cant go back.
i realize this at 10 when i carry my great grandmothers jewelry box out of an apartment she won’t return to.
her skin is the color of daffodil petals and just as thin.
she lets me beat her in chinese checkers and slips me a 2 dollar bill on my way out the door.
“they don’t make these anymore” she says,
“this will be worth something someday”.

Days before my funeral

That bullet landed 3 inches away from my heart
Nearly if not almost killed me
Roses delivered to me fresh on a daily
I swear you could’ve said I was loved
Clown performances
Gifts and smiles from strangers I only knew by name
Extended time and to my bells ringing
Dark colorful nights
And glittery days
Exhibited before my funeral
All faded the night
The pastor sealed the deal with a kiss
And he locked it with a ring
As my heart laid to rest and my eyes it’s farewell

All my love

Venezuela's Angel Falls cascade down my face
When I think of you my love
I can only imagine how you must have felt
When your seedlings were uprooted from fertile ground before they could sprout
It must have reaped your womb apart to see them depart
Your memories of them fading with each sunset as you wondered if they've been watered and fed compost
I know this because
When you finally found them you watered them with a bucket full of love and compost big enough to fertalise the whole village
