wintering

hurry inside before the breeze pools in
you can keep on your shoes
i know you must be freezing

come in, this way
tell me, how was your treatment?
i set some pillows up by the fire
relax into them please,

you musn’t lift a finger
but tell me how to keep you warm
should i play the music you like?
or am i misinformed...

would you like some coffee?
tea it is
don't mind me
i'll be warming your drink

The Nurse in Blue

The nurse in blue
Is sick like the ones who go through
The doors each day, and all they say
Is help, I’m not well, but she tries to not dwell
On others’ emotions; poorly paid, no promotion
Just like her clothes, blue is her mood
She’s seen much death, and has no time for food
Then she gets worse, like the patients she’s taken
Cos she’s rushed off her feet, but do not be mistaken
She worse in herself, not in her job, it is safe
But push her too far, and you’ll leave it too late

A New Light

As morning breaks, the early bird whistles their tuneful song
A calling to the sleeping world to embrace the new
The soft dew falls to give bloom to a rich and vibrant scape
With the warm finesse of the arising sun gazing upon the breathtaking sight

4,948 Life Lessons I’m still learning.

There is a stone in my chest.
It is cold and
lodged in place.
Swallowed as spoonfuls of sugar turned solid halfway down-
-Something a quarter of a century has taught me is
family is fickle. There is no blood or bond thick enough to get around it.
Love is conditional. There is always such a thing as being too much for someone.
Hope is beautifully dangerous. It guides the frontal cortex and leaves the lobe, flawed.
In rose-colored glasses, all those red flags will just look like flags-

CHILL ALSO INSPIRES

Have lived in minus 35 degrees
winter

my it was
chill

as snow flakes
sheared my eyes

when I used to fetch my
GCS

My they were so
impressed

loved me
hugged me
of course 'em
I kissed

my then bent back
straightened up

what darn
chill!

Orion

I rise early to darkness
Autumn winds carry leaves
To their eternal resting places
My cares are likewise swept away
Chasing leaf litter, coaxed into flight
An ancient archer’s angular stance
Patiently waiting with bow drawn
Bearing witness to the ages
Takes notice of my awakening

Old Timer

I am too old, is what people say

I do not know what is going on today

It is past time for me to be gone

Everything I say, I say all wrong

Should get rid of my old-style ways

I am just living in the olden days

Look at me and call me an old timer

I am as out of date as a five and dimer

They do not see the wisdom in years

A fool only sees what he wants to hear

My ways may indeed be from the past

Maybe they are growing up to fast

Like Sherlock Holmes, they cannot catch a clue

Not now not ever

The way you looked at me made everything make sense
You held a grasp on me, a grasp I longed to keep
A grasp that hit me with something far too deep
I couldn’t comprehend it, the way I felt for you
It was real and far too true

I had a dream last night
I felt the warmth and bitter sweetness of your voice
The cadence spoke to me and maybe only me but it was my choice
To love you the way I did and for me to be so thoughtful
You didn’t deserve it, no
You didn’t deserve my affection
Not now not ever

A thanksgiving Wish

A Thanksgiving wish

to: one and all,
now is a time
to set aside
all strife and woe.
come together
in an aura of peace,
may you all enjoy a
Happy Thanksgiving!

*love, Cat

REMEMBER ME AS NEO'S ROSE

Remember the symbol of
My life
is a Rose
as an immortal one
as anonymity never dies
It lives on like a rose
Lovely poet yet unknown
to any and so shall for ever be)

Remember the rose
so remember
a rosy mirror

remember the rose
a symbol of life

Youth shrivels away
as one comes of age
I pass away from this page
