lost leaves

Like children I have lost,
I miss those books I gave away.
Each lonely, loose-leaf page
I long for on this dreary day.

Some other hand now holds,
some other soul they soothe and still.
(I rue those wasted years
when I had reading-time to kill!)

One author, you may know.
(I dare not spell his noble name)
When father bid me read;
I sneered, to my eternal shame!

But that was in my youth,
when blinded to the gentle gleam
of chapters’ golden glow,
I deemed those words a dead-man’s dream.

Is this Haiku? Do I give a toss!

Alone I sit
Pencil in hand
I ponder long
On secrets grand.

Weep... by: (Cat's husband Steven)

Weep…
Weep for those species that are extinct,
For their existence is but a fading memory,
And we are complicit.
Weep…
Weep for those who are starving,
For their food lies withering in the fields,
And we are complicit.
Weep…
For those yet to come,
For their world is dying,
And we are guilty.

Let's Now Not Cling

As we age
across life's each page
let's not now any longer rage
as we are about to leave this worldly stage

where since decades
we remain en caged
now we must pave our way
as newer actors come on stage
to show their rising ways

let's now shy away
as they now openly blissfully
orgasmic-ally engage

WORRY

For the longest time now, I have worried over nothing,
With a mindset that beleaguers me and leaves me rather flat.
It's a feeling that belies a deeper problem than I realize
And it never leaves me happy or contented where I'm at.

I worry like a worrywart who lost the art of happiness
And sit in my depression when I'm losing all control.
But I have a saving element to mental stature relevant
In elevating levels that relieve my very soul.

LOST AND FOUND

LOST AND FOUND

A NEW DAY BEGINS, YOU'RE OFF AGAIN!
DREAMS FOLLOWING WITH THE WIND
AS YOU MAKE A TIMELY GETAWAY
GO, GO, GO AND DON'T COME BACK
UNTIL THE SUN RESTS
AT THE GLITTERING NIGHTS BEHEST
THERE, THERE YOU JUST MIGHT FIND
WHAT IT IS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR
A SEED MAY BEGIN TO GROW
AT THE END OF YOUR RAINBOW
AS EACH AND EVERY NEW DAY
BECKONS YOU THROUGH AN OPEN WINDOW!
AND YOUR PERSPECTIVE SLOWLY TURNS!
AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Deep

Lone ears hear no love
The heart weeps in sad refrains
Splinters in burned ash

Losing My Head (for St. Valentine)

These mortal remains
Through the centuries
Venerated relics
Kept with vigilant regard
Entrusted to the devout
Scattered abroad
Focus of storied pilgrimages
Lovers in wait
Sometimes in vain
Seek the prophetic counsel
With lovelorn prayers
Whose skull lies restful
Adorned with flowers
Stoic in your reverence
Devoted to your ministry
Patron saint of lovers
Ghost of lovers lost
Affections robbed me of my mind
Willingly I paid the cost

Get Tuesday

Get Tuesday

Get Tuesday today,
stop them from getting away!
Run toward this strange elusive day;
tackle it if you must,
but don't let it get away.

Get Tuesday,
fight for the most from this day!
Plot and act on today,
how you'll get your diem to stay,
just get Tuesday,
and stop opportunity from running away!

haiku

winter bears his age
thin, spent hands longing for warmth
bright seedlings of spring
