UNDER THE STREET INFLUENCE

a neon blue radiance
sign buzzed
like an angry hive.
a drunken bum hiding

in a shelter of yesterday's
Newspapers a pimp
On the street looking

For more victims
a cop on the beat
power to his head
looking for anything
to arrest a silver gun
pointed in any direction

This or That

This or that,
Her or me.
Can't have both,
chaos verses normalcy.

Love or hate,
escape to fate.
Gladness turns to madness,
hand delivered from hell's gate.

Needle or smoke,
one last toke,
was it worth the cost
and everyone you lost?

Without You

My heart is drumming
As the cannon sounds
Crimson stains the dirt
As my eyes look around

As the numbers dwindle
Your hand grazes mine
We're both wondering
If we'll make it out alive

Stand shoulder to shoulder
Heartbeat tense, feet ready
I promise I'll protect you
If you'll just hold me steady

I could live, you could die
You have to live, I do too
But honestly, I'd rather die
Than live life without you

COMING SOON

As the winter winds still sing
A fading lonesome final song,
Snows will slowly fade away
As springtime comes along.

Winter snows will leave the mountains
While cool water will provide its worth,
The streams and lakes will fill again
Beautiful signs of summer's birth.

Robins and other song birds sing
Tunes that fill the daytime skies,
As crocus, tulips, and daffodils bloom
Before our waiting watchful eyes.

My First Bicycle Ride

I felt the tires squeal
As I plowed up that hill

I raced as fast as I can
Moving moving past my original plan

I rang the bell on my handlebars
As I swiped several nearby cars

I felt myself slowing down
Hoping I would not hit the ground

My head was so full of steam
When I finally woke from my dream

My First Bicycle Ride

They say it's something
You can never forget
Unlike playing a piano
Or driving a Corvette

Is cycling just an instinctual skill ?
Mind over matter, a force of will

In my ripe old age I must confess
I've never been on a bicycle, or worn a dress.

Its just two wheels and pedals
How hard can it be
Just hold onto the bars
And set myself free

Tenacity

The ivy stretches up the wall
its leaves so small
but still it tries
to touch the skies.

It clings to mortar and red brick
its leaves so thick
its hearty vine
and veins entwine.

It trails along the window frame
showing no shame
in wanting more
than earthen floor.

Moonlight and lies!

Gaelic lady, sweet
but a bit shady
raven hair, with crystal blue eyes
runnin' round town
makin you look like a clown
gigglin' while whisperin'
her little white lies
everythings hazy
she's drivin' you crazy
your down on one knee
on a moonlit night
but then in the mornin'
she'll come around dauntin'
sayin' she's leavin'
for some other guy!

Grapefruit and Sugar

For all the love I have
Of the sand and sea
The rays of the sun
The rain and the mountains...

For all the love I have
Of yellow flowers
Grapefruit and sugar
The smiles of strangers...

For all the love I have
Of snow and hot showers
Music and sweet coffee
Driving at night...

I love you
Most of all

First Time on a Bike

Oh! Yes I remember my first bike ride so well.
Grazed Knees and grazed elbows, bumped head,
Hurt like hell.
