WHEN LIFE IS A BLUR

WHEN LIFE IS A BLUR

Whenever I try and look back
My life has mostly been a blur
There are memories, for sure
More a whimper than a roar
The brain always was the spur
Hiding what a heart may lack

It was always about far to go
Travel, and much to achieve
The emptiness is yet to come
With few depths left to plumb
Only facts, not what I believe
So why do I now feel so low

Certain moments I can select
Perhaps a grimace or a smile
From an early age it did begin
I never wished to merely fit in
Or belong to the rank and file
But maintaining all self respect

So when I’m doddery and old
As my peers try to remember
If I still can, then what will it be
Maybe just cottonwool memory
Christmas joy, just a dull ember
No frankincense myrrh or gold

Hello I think this is well done, the stanzas follow an ABCCBA form, giving the poem a nice symmetry, well written thanks
