To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Writer’s Block

There’s a cloud in my head
Threatening to sabotage my youth
The free flow of wisdom
Succumbing itself to silence

An eternity of deliverance
Gone out of nowhere
A place of prejudice
Where sanity lives abundantly

There are others who suffer
The same state of numbness
A hollowed inside
With nothing in between

What’s the sense in telling?

Have I gone mad…thinking?

No! Nothing…

…and the cursor keeps on blinking…

Help! Police!...

The sluggish air of a steamy night
Muffles the stealthy sounds
Furtive movement held back from sight
Whilst I made my rounds

My hearing rang with nervousness
Heart pounding with adrenaline
My brain was trying to assess
What could all this really mean?

My eyes beheld an awful sight
Did I really see?
My skin crawled and I took fright
He was on bended knee

Pools of blood and flashing blade
Made my stomach churn
From unholy meat, thin steaks were made
But, from the sight, I couldn't turn

Invasive Presence (eddy styx)

Invasive Pressence

intruder of
my sacred space
how dare you show
your wretched face

to my door
you make your way
taunting me
both night and day

I well know
'twas your intent
to inject venom
now 'tis spent

you sneeringly
fake sympathy
while standing there
and mocking me

in my domain
triumphant thing
your wretched wrath
will surely sing

now aware of
your mistake
I see it plain
and watch it break

A Distant Longing

Shadows step into
the moon's light, elongate
into imagination....

Here
amoung cave dwellers
painting the scene of an ancient hunt
I am
a dreamwalker walking through the
red dust of desire

The sea is a symphony--
I hear waves crashing
a thousand
cicadas climbing their insect legs
into the drum beat of night

Into the rhythm of blue violins
playing a tzigane rhapsody
the veil of day falls
now
the dream meets the dreamer
a thousand nightfalls ago

when we were Titans

once upon a time
we laughed

clutched hands
and loved shamelessly
fearlessly protective
when her back was turned

I caught every arrow
dodged every snare
swallowed every poison
until I gasped for breath

reaching for a hand
that is no longer there

once we were Titans

The Space Race... Song, or, The Species of Hate...

The Space Race.. Song, or,
The Species of Hate….

Just a song from a shiny spaceman,
he didn’t really sound so far out.
I wonder if the leaders knew his clan,
are we just living with an alien’s lout?

When he lands will he think we’re odd,
is it best for us to act submissive .
Could he have an answer from a god,
will he be instructed to let us live.

All Mine

Cynthia writes a poem
about the tigress being a lady,
I ask out loud, what choice
do us mere mortals have
between the tiger and the lady
when the tiger
is the lady?

Howsoever the snarl of victory
resonates
I am guilty of the unholy state
of digress,
baring my teeth and purring, changing my
stripes into miles of one-way smiles, stealing the lust
from your eyes and making it mine.

All mine.

Colors without Hues ..(Rhyme Crimes WS.Assign 4)

Ah! How blue I am without you,
my colors have lost that vivid hue.
Dark black become my days
and hazy grey paints through my ways.
No light of hope, but fading whites
daily grow with misty twilights.
Greens no more pass my meadows,
only the orange shades and the yellows
are seen in the falling leaves of my trees
while sadly they shed like tears.
No shades of brown for which I die
all are stolen in the hazel of your eye.
Now, please say you're coming soon
so my colors ,again, can sing a happy tune.

Workshop:

Coma static call
from the broken phone down the hall

I can hear you
your whimper

the same moon shinning bright
on us
your thick legs of winter beneath
your grandmothers quilt

fog mist hand stirring our hearts
your breasts against my chest
black birds echo
the etch of pines at the great bank
of the valley decline
makes me shiver

connect
the static hiss
of our careful silences

the longing measured
between us

you always cry
sobbing
broken hearted

Seven years are not forever

The head of our house said to me
On the day we met at the bar
West wind will bring a sudden change
Taking our woes with it away
Those who heard him thought he was drunk
Darkness hung on the path we walked
Air polluted by billows and burns
We are tired of hearing bomb blasts
We are sick with shame of bloodshed
Seven bad years are not forever
