Scrapbooks

I looked through old albums
after she was gone
There were so many to sort!

An enormous journey
through paper and keepsakes
A memoir of ephemera
full to bursting from within

It was the few empty pages
that followed in some that got to me,
labors of love, reminiscences
yet to be cherished

As it turned out, I didn’t mind the task
The archaeology of a mother’s time
and the stories it told
It was really no trouble at all

Hello, Michael,
Another beautiful, yet simple poem revealing such honest, tender thoughts. You are gifted.

I sense a little Ted Kooser, here, which I express in the most complementary way. :)

Thank you L! Always appreciate you stopping by. BTW, you nailed one of my biggest influences - Kooser is amazing, and I am blushing at the comparison.
