And now, if only we could convince the rest of the world to value and protect these gifts.

A very nice take-off on the Twelve Days of Christmas. The title sets the mood for the rest of the poem. Well done!

Thanx,
Steve

Nature is amazing. Beyond contemplation!
Thank you for reading!

more people would think of all the things that you mentioned as gifts, rather than rights owed to us. Let's remember that we
are of the Earth and can easily be wiped from the list. The partridge in a pear tree was a nice touch; like reminding us all that we can make this work. Nice. ~ Geez.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

That wonderful little partridge in the pear tree just had to stay in the poem.
Many thanks, as always, for reading!

This was absolutely amazing and how true! Every single thing mentioned is a precious gift and like Geezer said..should be seen as such and not a right or something we can take for granted and destroy. Even the really cool partridge in a pear tree! Your poems give your reader so much to reflect on. I truly enjoy them.

To count all the gifts is endless - this is the short list! I've thought about writing a poem in the same form about the opposite - how many living species are now extinct, or nearly extinct.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
