This Ol' Rocker

Melancholy are my mood swings
concerning events from my past,

I've been thinking about past scenes
and things I thought wouldn't last.

Everything still stays with me
and, regrets do have their place;

but, I never thought I'd see
them laughing right in my face!

So, I keep on rocking
in this old chair of mine,

remembering all that has happened
sipping on life's sweet-berry wine.

I don't recall having much of a choice
with all these things I regret,

A Ghost of a Chance

I thought I knew just who I was
until you entered through the door,

we began talking casually
until you told me what you longed for.

You said you yearned for someone
who'd fullfil your wildest dreams,

and as you got even more specific
you began unravelling at the seams!

I did my best to comfort you
as you sat beside me, on the floor;

then, I explained to everyone...
..I was the one you were looking for!

I alone, could banish each lonely night
and end your futile, dating quest!

The Desert Forest

I'm convinced I'm surrounded by idiots
and, they're totally driving me mad!

I thought briefly about e-mailing friends
but, some idiot took the lap-top, I had!

If idiots were trees, I'd tell you what;
this, high desert'd be a forest, for sure;

I'm still deciphering if there are any that're normal
because, it's getting way too much for me to endure!

Sometimes, when in an intensely deep conversation
they'll appear, as though they knew what you'd said;

Children of the Future

Blatantly raised by the inept
then, shuffled off to school;

being taught to love thy neighbor
and understand the "golden rule".

Their pencils become weapons
but, it's all cookies, and lemonade;

remember to keep your nose, "clean"
study hard...and make the "grade"!

Always listen to the teacher
because the teacher's who's in charge;

and, when the final bell does ring
they see, a "latch-key world"...so large.

I got something for you

You should never believe everything people say
About people, but
Should take  seriously everything people tell you
About a person, because
If you don't
it may and often does come back to bite you in the heart

Moon of the Morn'

So tranquil is our landscape,
Calm in its everest blue.
The summer moon, full in its splendour,
Keen for the watcher,
Gone apace the sprinkled dew.
Beauty few grasp to elate.

Reverent, spiritual night,
Sing silent to the heavens.
Weep with the morn', weep joy over all,
Even light can fall.
Gentle, mortal eloquence.
Godly harmonies take flight.

Cindi's Alternative Life Smile

I'm proud to know someone, such as yourself.
True enough, life has generously burdened you,

and serendipity, and fortune have more of a tendency to hide
rather than attempt to seek you out.

Plus, the darker your misfortunate episode is,
the more apt you are to cultivate a proclivity

to coerce yourself into enduring a sort of, "trend";
otherwise known as a bad, "run of luck", as it were.

So, consider this thought concerning your range of circumstances.
Everyone of your private joys, and secret sorrows

Voice

Burning words drenched through
soaked with fuel
spiked with poison my
venomous soul
once trapped
suffocated
banished within
my serpents tongue
Forked and forced into a
curl
so tight
breathing life of fume
and dancing flame
beating as one with rage
fighting to
unfurl
like the torrential force
of the coming storm
with rapid erosion
a crushing wave
streaks of lightning
crack open the dark
with piranha teeth
these words spiral
spin, bite and

The Scorned One

The selfish wrath of a discarded
lover will live on, and on;

though they're told that, "it's over"
now, they don't want to be...gone!

True, you...yourself did dissmiss them
so, you alone are to blame;

and that's when they start justifying
plotting an endless, cruel "game"!

Being scorned, they're more driven
to teach you suffrage, much worse;

revenge is a dish served, best...cold
with a large cup, of warm "curse"!

LIGHT (a Rhyku)

Late summer's sunshine
filters through tired wrinkled leaves
casting dappled shadows on the duff
which tremble with each passing breeze

*Rhyku- A poem with three to four lines of which at least two must rhyme and none be longer than seven words
