Post Turkey Day Blues

Oh, the turkey was sublime
The dressing was extra fine
The yams were oh so yummy
When I stuffed them in my tummy
The potato salad was so great
As was the ham I'd masticate
The deviled eggs that I desired
Left me feeling so inspired
So chicken and dumplings I then ate
Piled them high upon my plate
The fruit salad was really divine
But the lemon pie I can't define
And as I sit here in major strife
I guess it's time to pay the price

My pants don't fit me any more
And my jaws have gotten sore
I can no longer see my feet
From eating all those lovely sweets
Now even spuds give me the hives
Because my skin broke out in eyes
Like the turkey when it gobbles
My neck has several lengthy wattles
And my stomach has got so big
That I'm grunting just like a pig
Now I am sure this is nothing new
I'd like more to eat, but I just can't chew...

Last few words:
Although this is an old poem, I thought it apt. This Thanksgiving was unique for me. My wife got a 24 hour virus the night before and so, for the first time in my life, it was up to me to make Thanksgiving Dinner. I cooked the ham, made the potato salad, did the dressing, One of my in-laws deep fried the turkey, my sister in law made yaps, yeast rolls and green bean casserole. Amazingly, it all turned out good, even mine and was a success. I developed a whole new respect for what the missus goes through on Thanksgiving.

Firstly, I hope that your Wife is better.
A grand piece of just eating, you are lucky you didn't bust.
A good time for the whole family to gather around, I feel that this is one thing that is missing today, where the families no longer eat together as they did each Sunday.

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

Yes, that is one of the failings of todays society. Thank you for the well wishes for the missus. She is better now, just sore as heck.
