Life That Leaves

A crooked smile upon my face,
I hear the water running.
You said the bathtub was dirty,
with Comet in your hand,
you scrubbed and scoured,
you plunged the drain.

Earlier I had asked you if you
wanted to hear my poetry,
but you said you weren't awake
enough yet.

Funny how these things happen
to poets,
to lovers,
and life
that leaves page after page
of discretion.

Once upon a time, I would have
loved the bathtub clean.
You can't have every thing it seems.

'Each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
shall draw the Thing as he sees It, for the God of Things as They are.'
(Rudyard Kipling)

It's one of those moments that...well, would I trade a poet for a man who washes the bathtub? Can't I have both? Simultaneously?

Yes. Sometimes. Rarely. Ok. Never.

That you remember these little things that have changed, where you would trade a hundred years for but one moment of time.
This is a peace that comes to you where he draws near and makes you either smile or tearful, both feelings are acceptable in their eyes.
Time passes so slowly, yet we are rushing to our meeting later, you sit and read those poems to him, he will hear every word that is in your thoughts, never rebuke them for leaving, they have gone ahead to make sure things are perfect just for you,

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

If she wouldn't hear my poem I would find someone who would.

Perhaps that's why I'm single. And smelly.

Keep an eye out for Judyanne's upcoming workshop, your poetry would give to it immensely.

cheers,
Jess
