I Remember

I remember.
The house high upon the hill.
It was so long ago.
But I remember it still.
Those nights when I would sit and watch the night drift by.
Nights that were silent and still.
The air filled with a chill.
Stars shining bright.
A soft glow of moonlight.
the glow of distant city lights.
Perhaps one day a place to go
My imagination runs wild.
Those days when I was a child.
It seems so long ago.
But I still remember.
Those nights so silent and still.
The air filled with a chill.
Would I ever forget them.
I hope that I never will.

The below is a computer generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem "I Remember" is a nostalgic piece that captures the essence of a bygone era. The use of simple language and straightforward imagery creates a sense of wistfulness and longing for a time that has passed. The repetition of the phrase "I remember" throughout the poem emphasizes the speaker's desire to hold onto these memories and never forget them.

One suggested line edit would be to change "Nights that were silent and still" to "Nights so silent and still." This small change adds emphasis to the stillness and quietude of these memories, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the poem.

Overall, the poem effectively captures the bittersweet feeling of reminiscing on past experiences. The use of vivid imagery and repetition creates a sense of nostalgia that is relatable to many readers.

The reiteration of the opening lines is a device that works well with this poem. I like the brief nature of it. It comes and goes like those early and dear memories which is also a device that works well for me. Your language use was plain but descriptively efficient and not lacking visual fabric. Title is again plain but totally fitting. Rhythm and timing are good throughout.

Nice job,
Tim
