The Reckoning
Tangled in the waning light
an arcane mistress fading slow
pulled gently down this whirlpool
although I wish
I need not go
my sight begins to fail me
now in streaks of grey
the clock tics faster than we thought
the more things change
the more they stay the same
Archaic songs float easily
upon the nights crisp air
peaceful?
yes for a time anyhow
on the brink we teeter without a care
longing for that harmony
banished in the past
for the moonrise of this night
may be the very last
for comes the time of reckoning
lest I be crushed beneath the load
If the debts I've added up
be far less than I owe
and love of life be not enough
to light my way back home
think of me in autumns chill
beneath the moons harvest glow

Andrew
What can I say? It all sounds so final, very gloomy and sad
