Historical Curios
cathedrals for sale
also palaces, castles, snake pits
and other defunct objects
of former affection
though beautiful in their day,
the weight of these monstrocities
has left the holding estates in abject ruin
due to lack of interest, brains
and tithes
perfect for raves (acoustically sound )
advertising campaigns ( taste is so arbitrary! )
or billionaire playgrounds ( who can have too many? )
naturally, nostalgic
and authentic settings
would make great venues for filming zombie flix
or fatuous costumed melodramas
and,
the simple earthiness of the land itself
is worth the cost of demolishing and clearing
these antiquated tombs of rubbish

Demolish,
Demolish the lot, they are just ties to a horibble past. Where the poor were robbed, raped, and tortured by the owners or masters of these antiquated monstosities. Better still if architecturally sound turn them into homes for the poor. Sorry and reading your poem the second time i liked this as well, i was better able to get the flow.. Regards Roscoe....
Roscoe Llane,

hey Roscoe
This was written to sound like a real estate brochure some time in the near future, when all the mystique of religous indoctrination had waned from the vast majority of the human race. That was my intention. The brochure idea didn't come across that well... but I don't like re-writing so I probably won't!
thanks for taking the time to comment on this
much appreciated as usual

Hi
I am a sentimental fool I hate seeing anything torn down but there is also the stain of the past that haunt these places as Roscoe pointed out and homes for the poor sounds like a brilliant idea ...

hello jc
I do agree that they should not be demolished. As art and architecture they are masterpieces!
I do agree that they could be better utilized .
glad to see you are back in the proverbial saddle.
thanks,
Al

hi frenchf
bring your positive cosmic karma with you. Rid the place of bad juju by building a loving home.
thanks, (and sorry for my past belligerence).
