Mum... You and I

By: Rula

Together we witnessed time ebbs and tides:

we went through ups, we went through downs,

yet luckily we got each other's sides,

you and I, you and I.

Together, unwillingly, we grew old,

with devestating wrinkles, and white hair.

We both raised families, yet we're still bold

You and I, you and I.

Together we laughed, together we cried:

I uplifted your spirits, you got my tears wiped,

we stayed together, side by side,

You and, I you and I.

Together we lived for worse and better,

until Alzheimer's stole you, my bank of love,

although you promised to stay forever

You and I, you and I.

My Gold

By Mr joghe

In whom I spent my old days and nights,

Who rocked me in my cradle;

And fed my pretty mouth with a spoon,

Did weep while I should weep.

How much will I pay

For the pain you’ve taken for me?

Who worked that jumper to keep me warm;

Treated me with diffidence and respect,

Her healthy arms always be my stay,

And always admired my prudent face that filled with laughter.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Who tired me with apology for being tiresome,

And asked twenty questions and never waited for an answer.

My timidity struck her at the first sight;

When she taught me to expect something extraordinary.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I find such a pleasure

In obeying her commands,

That I take care to observe;

Shall soon come to bless me.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I vow, I thought so;

Never, as among queens and princesses

In her age; to be explicit,

I’ve kept very little company

In pretty smooth dialogues with her.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

The Warring Within Me

A  The Warring Within Me

Hard  trying to stay warned
Of conflicts warring in my soul
The will to live, desiring Sheol
Freeness from pain lingering in my veins

I look to heaven, thankful for moments, between
Depressed, feeling distress, none to late
Inner peace increases,  demise releases, as
I lie upon my sick bed, tie-in to God's message

Defending my reasons for leisure
Has become treason
A desirous, Industrious way burns within me
Feeling lazy, mentally dazed

Who did we think we are?

Did we happen to surrender
small chunks of earth we claimed
as our own for a musical pathway to the stars?
Did prayer flags unfurl our camel's survival
in that lonely oasis of our vampire eyes,
why did no one meet us
with the rising sun?

Where were all the unopened doors?

Dead Tree in the Forest

Stark among the lush of youth

tall, unashamed

no leaves twirl downward

no fertile blanket of rot

to feed saplings

fresh with green sprigs.

Many seasons

they have tasted your nourishment.

Do they regard your wisdom

whispered in the mountain breeze?

Do they believe tales told of

life on the hill,

of cycles of torrents, droughts,

penetrating frosts and mountains

of drifted snow?

Do they devour the lore

falling among the leaves?

IT WAS A DREAM - 1

I saw a monster whose face was blank
With all my strength I tried to run
Something held my legs and dragged them along
Every step was hard a task to do
A witch flew with spells across the sky
I stumbled and began to crawl
Crawling was not easier either
How to escape was all I could think
Each move brought the monster closer
What was that? I turned to look
There it was in changing mode
A strange looking mountain gorilla
An elephant in a human form
A formless entity with all our fears

Integrity

the hand that reaches across oceans
does not sing a siren's lullaby
does not churn the sea to give birth,
for love makes no demands and spares
neither blossom nor rind
but feeds the magnetic heart
with the scent of ripened fruit,
bearing memory and unyielding pleasure
like a lotus that unfolds,
petal to petal,

only the wisest owl takes life into
consideration, leaves his perch and
flies away, homeless for the sky.

Savor the Moment

A moment united
An awesome distinct thought,
point of view, none imagined

an idea freshly decided
initiated from creative cruxes of poetic etches
should be mounted, the next time

unveiled nuggets, shimmer in the light of your eyes
and, enhance taste, savoring the moment

My Poetic Child

Oh, child
you brighten
the darkest
sky

oh, you have grown
intro a young man
that embraces
ecstacy

you took my demons
as you became home
to my wildest
dream

a tear of joy
falls on my pad
my dark thoughts
flee at your sight

son, this world
felt monotonous
until you smiled
and my worries
were on the first flight
out of my mind

when I almost lost you
I became useless
As the time hesitated

PHANTOM LOVE

To learn to love
I created you
The feeling
Left me spellbound
There you were
My phantom love
I desired nothing but you
In the pages of books I read
In work place
And in my dreams
I prostrated before your feet
Stretched my hands
To behold you
The empty space
Graced my hands
Brought cool chill
To the marrow in my spine
I looked again
Through misty air
To where you stood
You were not there
Gone without thinking of me
I was only a living pity

The Nascent and Cordial Rose Found Love

Fresh with ideas
Prudent with years
beyond her bloom of youth

Beautiful as nascent rose
she’s adorned with wisdom and grace

Enhanced with brashness
Sensitive with years
beyond his bloom of youth

Stunning as cordial rose
he’s adorned with empathy and charm

A nascent, cordial pair
Fresh, enhanced, discreet, complex, tangled with passion
Both beyond their bloom of youth

Beautiful, stunning as decorated duo rose
Together adorns wisdom, grace, empathy, and charm with their love

The Lepidopterist

The aging lepidopterist

Eternally the optimist

A lifetime spent in searching for

The rarest creature, nothing more

But one day soon without a doubt

He’s sure that he will seek her out

He’ll net this most elusive bug

And finding her, they’ll kiss and hug

Then looking deep within her eyes

His stomach fills with butterflies
