Neopoet Weekly 06/23/24 to 06/29/24 Winner

This week’s winner is Mini with the following poem

The unexpected

Submitted by Mini

Falling in love with you
Is the most astonishing thing,
For I never imagined
That eyes so blue
Could captivate me so deeply,
Preoccupying my mind
With your enchanting presence,
Becoming a light
In my dark path,
Warmth
In the coldest winter,
Star
In the night sky
And joy
In sorrow

To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Shadows in the Wind

The crispness in each breath
announces the time of year.
I exhale, and it seems that the leaves turn.

All of the possibilities of spring
pull the leaves down to the ground,
and chance comes into play where each will land.

In the end, the earth is nourished,
time has continued on,
and we are blessed, with the yield of the harvest for that year.

While surrounded by our pleasures,
we find ourselves hovering nearer the hearth,
and bundling-up to erase the solstice chill;

Name Invader

On the walls
On the cars
On the bricks
On the trucks
And on the trains
You invade
In imagination
You participate
Making a summary of society
With retrospective theory
Achieving freedom with notoriety
Off the walls of normality
Into colorful reality
Making serendipity of what was once a blank canvas
On the walls
You create
On the minds
You invade
And it could not have been more beautiful.

in the presence of joy

silence surrounds rustling tinsel
the true meaning of christmas
left yesterday

gasping for breath
tears of loneliness
glimmer a memory
shining a sad smile

with a rising glance
A miracle appears
as each drop falls

Irene Sure Was A Bitch!

"girls, we have to go to the firehouse!"
Maggie's mother poked her head through the bedroom door.
Maeve squirmed on the top bunk
as Maggie sat up as fast as she could
while she was still half asleep.
it was 7AM
and hurricane Irene was currently
tearing through the east coast-
no one had expected the mountains to be hit so hard,
and the valley was feeling it most.
she got dressed, gathered her notebooks,
and cursed under her breath when the sink didn't work.

THE RUNAWAY FILES

The ground was cold and hard;
i was gasping for air as i ran.
barking, barking was behind me
i dared not to look back
for i was afraid that if i did
i'd be trampled by the dogs that chased me.
i was guessing there were about five or six of them,
all police dogs,
oh shoot, i thought, as i dropped the runaway file.
ahead of me i saw Allie and Ben running for their lives.
i was tired, yet i kept going,
running,
running for freedom,
for a new life.
i stumbled backwards, though,

Entwined

Some humor aroused
In an otherwise
mundane audience...

Penisculey ...vaginesque poetry
lockingly, loffoblle, ,spermotically
Horgasmically too
Well done can I say
Friendson to you...

York Pork Man

There once was a lad from New York,
who could eat nothing but pork.
His insides were burning.
His acid was churning.
Then he threw up and looked like a dork.

Global Warming

Greenery everywhere to be found,
Which will very soon get one day wound,
Cool pure air....,
Will be no more everywhere...,
Beautiful nature with amazing creatures,
In between them exists human who's immature,
His every act leads to destruction,
Which's very difficult for reconstruction,
To save this there's God's brain storming,
As on earth here today begins GLOBAL WARMING,
It's time for we youngsters to play a role,
To protect and save this God's beautiful soul.

Buddhas made of clay

Four horses will be foaled today
under a golden rope of sky
they will be riderless
until the end of the world
or its beginning,
judgment creeps in like a thief
and steals hope from the manger
there are tapestries woven with
a thousand green Hallelujah threads, there are lotus blossoms
blossoming in the fire.

Heavenly bodies yearn for birth. Blackbirds darken the sky.
I speak
to the wind,
words blow away.

People Always Leave

meeting and falling in love
fighting until push comes to shove
crying until you have had enough

feeling as though anything can be achived
things escalate until neither of you are pleased
trying to pick up the pieces as you grieve

seeing someone everyday for all that time
you whole life changes at the drop of a dime
someone you love has just finised their climb

the feeling that you will never be rejected
sometimes feeling and others not feeling accepted
you hit that point when you feel all together neglected
