Summer Image Prompt Challenge Winner!

The winning poem of the Summer Image Prompt Challenge is

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Words

What to say
when promises and givens
hinted and unfolded
by relished touch
and unrelenting passion
become as empty as a heart
left cold by distance?

Shall fury speak
these bruises of emotion,
shouting their slow build
from flying fists of words
welling underneath thin skin
that shrinks from stab of hatred?

Could You Borrow Me ?

Could you borrow me your limbs, sometime...
..that I might increase my stride ?

So that, if events should turn on me,
I could run, if I could not hide;

and with the added reach, your arms
would kindly lend to me,

I'd carry both our burdens, so...
..and I'd do so, easily;

and if by chance, you minded not
sharing with me, of your will...

..the added dertermination, I'm sure
will help me climb each hill;

for, I'd have extra energy
courtesy of your very soul,

the star

When he left
the serpent of sparkling diamonds
which
ripples and curves and stretches
from one side of night to the other
heard my cry of anguish, and

taking pity on me

gently persuaded darkness
to hold a single jem
apart from the other jewels that stud
its black cloak

To point the way he had gone
.

MERMAID"S LESSON

I'm a little mermaid swimming in the sea
my hair is long,my bosom full I'm pretty as can be
anytime a sailor sees me he wants me for his wife
but I just laugh and swim away to live my care-free life

My skin is soft my scales are bright
they shine and glow in bright sun light
perhaps my favorite feature is my fulsome tail
which allows a speedy swim without any fail

Poetry In Motion...

Crippled by the inter-net
It's got a strangle-hold on me
Treated it like a pet
Now it won't set me free

Chained to my desk and chair
My fingers turned to claws
I'm stiff from toes to hair
I can't get up because

I might miss some news
About my favorite site
I want to see their views
So I'm sitting here all night

Oooohh ... I gotta go
Damn it, I can't wait
I'll be back before you know
If my eyes are seeing straight

Acrid

Incessant flow of acrid torment,
gouging a trench into an effulgent pebble.
Dull throbbing that never ceases.

Torrent of hell holding me down,
as I gasp and fight for air ,
and struggle to throw the darkness out.

Chinks of light expand,
seeping across my mind.
The nightmare receding.

Escape from a living hell,
I’m human again.
For now.

Simplicity

.

sweet simplicity
thee, I seek!
holy grail of aspiration
tool of both the wise man,
and the fool

simplicity

space

uncluttered

sparseness begetting clarity
clarity begetting light
light begetting understanding
bearing wisdom's grand delight

oh! sweet simplicity
of thee I sing
and hope, through thee,
to soar high upon enlightened wings

Twilightning

With a series of chants
and a supernatural song,

one can be lifted in "twilight"
and be suddenly, gone !

Be not ambiguous
float your heart, high,

savor each moment
and cherish, each "sigh".

Should gravity lean, "heavy"
and cause one to, sway,

find solace, profound
that one's frame bends, that way;

and as the eve swallows
the day, into night;

respect every law
that governs, "twilight"!

"Sorry For the Days that I made You Cry"

sorry for the days that i made you cry,
and for all the times you're caught in my lie..
i'll never do it again....i'll never try,
i'll never let this story end with goodbye..

sometimes i'd been used to be blind,
sorry for the times i'd never sleep by your side..
while the way of life is what i tried hard to find,
when i lose you, it's hard to say "never mind.."
