To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Shahenda

She stood on top of the crest of the falls,
As sunlight danced within the rushing waters.
Hands spread upwards in meditation,
Speaking to the inner powers to appear.
Her full-length emerald green cloak
Whipping in the wind that burst forth.
As she stood on top of Kaaterskill Falls,
The wind gushed, throwing her hood aside
Letting loose a wave of waist length auburn hair.
Her green eyes flashed as she chanted.
Dazzling rays of prism light
Danced forth from her right hip,
Her powers, being flocked together.

untitled

I wish I were a bird;
could soar above the clouds
and touch the moon

fly faster than the speed of light
and hear the planning
of tomorrow

take wing against the march of time
and listen to the voices
of the past

or simply be;
glide upon currents of air,
observe the beauty of steamy tropic forests,
feel the icy cold of snowy mountain peaks,
perhaps, taste the tang of wild salty seas
and then perch, nonchalantly,
in a favorite tree.

Solemn

You say there is nothing left to say
And that I have crossed the line to many times
So we stand in separate silences
Apart in heart and apart in body
So why won’t you hear, my solemn apology

Yes, I still love you
But what good could it do now?
Yes, I still dream you
But what does it matter now?

So don’t cry, when you’re lonely
This was your idea to part ways
And I know I have made mistakes
But you’ve made them too along the way

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT SONG

* sung to the tune of " Deck the Hall With Boughs of Holly "

'Tis the season to be greedy
falalalala lalalala
Buy for yourself, to hell with the needy
falalalala lalalala
Don we now our tailored clothes
falalalala lalalala
While elevating well bred nose
falalalala lalalala

desert love

love is a
a tree
that flowers in
the desert

if it bears no fruit,
its branches
turn to
inevitable dust--

to be blown on
whispering winds
of sadness and grief
so deep,

even angels weep.

Mild Rebellion

I pay homage to the music of my youth,
To the decade filled with teenage hang ups
and mild rebellion.

To the heaven of 7inch singles and long players,
The Birdie Song and Jive Bunny,
a disgrace.

 The first  single ever purchased
Gary Numan's Cars,
Second Soft Cell's Tainted Love.

I recall a loathing for New Romantics, due to Mr Le bon
I hate Duran Duran  to this day.
Tolerated Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley had a great voice.
Loved Adam Ant, a genre all his own..

Their different ways! Only Way

Their different ways! Only Way
Pass,
See,
Observe,
Be candid,
Avoid being rancid,
Pause,
Wave
And
Let all see
The moving of
The train slowly
As the doors shut
The world outside is cut,
The train moves on,
The sojourn is now on
Two trains they caught
One gong East
The other North
The distances widened
Far apart there was nothing then
To be lost,
The sojourn was on
To a lonely resort,
Awaiting there was
Someone’s consort

The Vist

One night long ago,
In my darkest hour,
I felt through my soul,
A unspeakable power.

A whisper to forsake,
All that was right,
Sudmit myself to evil,
Give in to the fight.

It told be being good,
Had nothing to gain,
But bitter dissapointment,
And unbearable pain..

But If I followed the darkness,
The whisper promised me this,
I would feel only victory,
In the wonderful abyss.

My Poetry!

My Poetry!

There is no lack in you

There is no lack in you

And you have discovered
And
Continue to uncover,
Imagery and metaphor
That only you uniquely
Can share with the world

If however you choose
To silence your pen,
Then the world would be at a loss....

There are among us,
Many scientists,
Who have expressed themselves in verse?
Wonderful poetry and fiction...
It is a known territory
And a very open road
