To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Prophylactic

There I go again
Running like a maniac
Sweating as if
There is real danger

I want to call 911
And beg them
To restrain me

When the cops do arrive
Ill ask them for a Xanax
So I can bury these panics

Shut up already
Now, I start breathing heavy
Great, my date thinks it's her
She screams, check sir

I asked can we talk later
She said no with no excuse
There goes another girl I lose
To my mind the prophylactic

KREME

filled with pillowcloud delicious
the candy smiles are canine fresh
you restless beast in your wander
slaughter
wear your haughty draught plowing
ice like the breaker
of hearts that wound with words
of wire Your quite the taker
and how our Brule treason
will show its season
this brokebone reason
and we fuck away our lives
banging ghosts in the lark
standing by our frozen
souls like statue puppets
to the dark
we are thin skinned
like dark tree bones
standing at the park

For Three People

We've all had these moments.

when from somewhere deep inside you
it hurts like hell to breathe
and you're broken from the inside out,
with hurt in your blood
and in the marrow of your shaking bones.

when your fingertips sting from guitar,
your hands are bent from piano
and ache from the pen you gripped so tightly
just a few seconds before.

today

I hope it's not today when the angels come home
where would these faces hide among the streets bent truth
no walk away monuments are waiting for us to stare
and where was I when you sang the rivers red
in the morning and evenings when I dropped the brightest star

Covered by Flags

Covered by Flags…

Don’t wave your flag in my face,
this vile rag a symbol of our creed.
Remove first the oil stains of disgrace,
causing these young soldiers to bleed.

They lie dead, silent under a coloured cloth,
bringing forth dignity from within a lie.
Material gains hidden by frequent wash,
why do the architects of war never die.

We drape our lions within lamb’s wool,
lay them in temples of highest hypocrisy.
Where we worship an unseen alien like fool,
damning all peaceful thoughts as heresy.

Counterspin the Clock

Vile, but soo courageous,
counter-spin the clock;

your gaze cannot put him to, view
he's underneath a rock;

cursed, days I've known him,
counter-spin the clock.

~

Kleptic, pipe-line ambush
counter-spin the clock;

all was empty, save the shadow tree
he isn't worth the chalk;

cursed, days I've known him
counter-spin the clock.

~

Dormant congeries that diddle
counter-spin the clock;

we'll fade, into shades of grey
then, he has no room to talk.

UNEMPLOYMENT LINE

I'm the best loom fixer ever
I knew them inside out
but now I'm unemployed because
they say I made too much

I have been to outer space
always on a U.S. craft
now to my shame and deep disgrace
I last hitched a ride out there

I'm a computer programmer
whose job is now gone overseas
where it's hard to understant the grammer
if you must call for help

Death Eternal

As life itself, with acces through all gates,
So too, there is no rhyme for our dark friend.
Death rose as an equal, eternally.
Forboding belligerence over all.

On roads where feet are tread to bone,
(The mar of waste-lands trudged alone),
We'd rather never have to meet,
Death, that bastard, warring woe,
So callous in his ways;
With whom all finds defeat.

Dazed and Confined

'Twas twilight on an odd day, winter
with the shadows playing tricks with my head,

and to my dismay,
I'd had it, that day
I can't believe what those idiots said!

It was cool so, I pulled on my "hoodie"
with a logo of a team I'm not for,

no matter the name,
I wore it the same
someone knocked then, 'fore I opened, my door!

I welcomed them in past my threshold
just to find out there was nobody there;

Don't Kid Me Killer...

Killer stomped into the office, his face was twisted mean
He slammed the fuckin' door, and then began to scream
What the fuck is going on here? I really want to know
Everyone was frozen stiff, their faces white as snow
Silence filled the room, the radio went dead
And not a peep was heard, there was nothing said
