Neopoet Weekly 06/23/24 to 06/29/24 Winner

This week’s winner is Mini with the following poem

The unexpected

Submitted by Mini on

Falling in love with you
Is the most astonishing thing,
For I never imagined
That eyes so blue
Could captivate me so deeply,
Preoccupying my mind
With your enchanting presence,
Becoming a light
In my dark path,
Warmth
In the coldest winter,
Star
In the night sky
And joy
In sorrow

To Unlove You

Submitted by Kristen H.

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Mathew

They saw you as a single atom of this earth,
in my eyes there was no defining your worth.

Ready for laughter, always your smiling face,
around you everything was lined with grace.

i wish there was a reason for you to stay,
that i could say how much i miss you each day

memories of you are now flawless works of art
that hang with beauty on the walls of my heart.

WORKING MAN

I've worked hard damned near all my life
but now I'm on the dole
while greed's allowed to have run rife
loss of self worth haunts my soul

Like most I thought I Was my job
(I could build 'most anything )
'cept a defence from those who'd rob
our chance to grab for that brass ring

Each day I still wake 'fore the dawn
old habits never die it seems
I'm that guy you could depend upon
to construct your home of dreams

Rosy Tribute

Roses are my fave...
they make one brave...
upon the button holes of kings
and
upon the graves of mankind...
roses we all find...
yet do we know...
Roses never fade,
in the book’s pages
in the shelves of time
they continue to lie
that's why
roses never ever die
When you open a page of time...
roses come to your mind ...
the fragrance remains
and
love doesn't stain...
roses,
as roses even though dry ...
come alive and forever remain......

The Coming Of The Night

What sung the crow to the dying sun,
As passed day unto night;
Beheld the moon as she begun
Her usurping of the light.
At silver light the raven calls,
A silence fills the halls.
No man can stir, no beast can bear,
The coming of night fall.

Improv

No this is what you think it's not an impromptu / Usually I let my words hoola hoop in my mind til I lose the rythmn / Cause even on a decline I am forever lost in thought / even without being spoken thru a mic / my words possess me / So excuse me as I exercise that thought region / I can't remember that's what side of the brain / Maintaining sanity in such a mad world /History repeating cause somethings can't help but remain / Those that lose more then they gain / Find ways to become stingy / Those who are overfed / Only grow more greedy / People walk pass me everyday a

A Tab For The Heartstrings

out of six strings
the girl has two
she knows what she wants
and that seems like nothing
she's cluless in her perfect world

out of six strings
the girl has four
she knows what she thinks is need
no one has changed like she swears they have
and he has done nothing wrong

out of six strings
the boy has eight
i know he cares
he just doesn't know what to do
or what to say

Confessions (eddy styx)

Confessions

She is Venus
watched from a distance,
making merry
with her soiled sisters,
buying rounds of mulled wine
in the shabby brothel,
fortifying resolve
against the dangers
of chilly night.

Finishing my tot of gin,
I place thempty vessel
on the scarred
wooden bar top
as the soft smile
of a refined gentleman
plays at the corners of my lips.

Awkward Thoughts

Awkward Thoughts…

They shovel words down our rarely used throats,
trying to make us swallow or gag so very hard.
Standing on squared circles like silly old goats,
with Hamster chin pouched necks, bellies of lard.

Angry though we get we’re always in the wrong,
excuses are made for our uneducated upbringing.
We can never use truth to voice our helpless song,
unfortunate people trying to sing, no just mudslinging.

CONVERGENCE

Frank Wright had an idea

                                             Bob Frost had an idea

Which popped into his head

                                             Which popped into his mind

A vision of a structure

                                             A vision of a poem

                       Which both knew how

                          to transform into

                                REALITY

Frank's specialty was physical
