Neopoet Weekly 06/23/24 to 06/29/24 Winner

This week’s winner is Mini with the following poem

The unexpected

Submitted by Mini

Falling in love with you
Is the most astonishing thing,
For I never imagined
That eyes so blue
Could captivate me so deeply,
Preoccupying my mind
With your enchanting presence,
Becoming a light
In my dark path,
Warmth
In the coldest winter,
Star
In the night sky
And joy
In sorrow

To Unlove You

Submitted by Kristen H.

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Come Together

Come bring me your berries,
Your plums, your cherries,
Bring me your applesauce,
Carvings and Chairs,
Bring me your paintings,
Your sculptures and wares.

Come with me and grow,
To barter, to trade,
Whats fresh and beaded,
And fancied with braid,

Come join me and start,
To save and begin,
This is a war,
We all can win

Buy from your neighbor,
Have built by your brothers,
Start eating fresh bread,
That's baked by your mothers.

Titanium Tower

regrets fall in rain drops upon the glass window
sitting in retrospect, life on dissect
the thick air conditions my body
into calmness
a mnemonic key
allows me to see
a flash into the past
when life was material and fast
i was all in pretty pictures in pout
walking streets to the beats always out
the filth and power the city nights devour
let alone the view is marvelous from titanium tower
closed then open eyes
self reflections as i look to the skies
a destined gamble, roll of dice

Rats

RATS

Rats said the Jess,
swatting at a passing allusion,
if things don’t improve
I’m going to cancel my subscription
to Nihilist Weekly.

Double rats said the Jess
as a skinhead materialised
out of a pile of dogshit and,
having left his sledgehammer at home,
was forced to soil his hands tearing him limb from limb.
If things don’t improve
I am going to have a great deal of difficulty
rationalising my already untenable position
with the adventurist left.

We will meet again ..What do you say?

at some corner of eternity
and
then as two petals of roses
in pages of books
we shall meet
to again fall apart
like autumn leaves
and
fly away towards
another trinity

that's why they say
time alone lives
we all perish

thank you friend,
for ripening my colloquial mind
excuse me for words mistakenly used,
it’s my creativity
my extempore muse...

I don’t visualize anyone,
but the hearts inner
and
compose...

Awakening

Awakening

Rosebud of desire
blooming
hotly centered
in spirited passion
awaking from her dream
still looming
languidly
stretching dainty limbs
silky laughter
on soft full lips
the warmth of her voice
fills him
with all the vibrations
echoing of
strains of silken laughter

Dreams and Nonsensible Things

To waste your time
To maybe just lie there for a while
Let your breath do the talking
Against my chest, deep and slow
My recurring dream every night
My only wish every morning
Uncomplicated
So surreal
Untouchable

To be perfect
To make the pieces fit
To make it all work out
To fix your skin
Make it all worthwhile
To be simple
I try so hard sometimes
At all the wrong times
To keep it in and shut it up
And lock it tight
When I know it’s all you want to see

NARCISSUS GROWN OLD

Narcissus grown old

Time took away
the ecstasy
of my yesterdays.

In rippling waters
cold and gray
I called to a reflection
not of me
yet of no other.

I knew
I would not see this place
again

Messenger

The message comes like a shaft of light
inhaled
it sends itself out to the farthest reaches
of empty spaces
and calls itself inspiration--
with drums,
we beat it,
with eyes,
we feed it,

But then we kill the messenger.

Quite honestly, don't ya think? But
never question why the sky turns darker
some days than others.

THE RISE AND FALL OF ALL

THE RISE AND FALL OF ALL
29th March 2012.

The rise and fall of music, the rise and fall of wind,
the rise and fall of making love, the undulations
of the hills that rise and fall where waterfalls spill,
the oscillations of the lake where ripples touch the sky
and shake the starlight out in day, to glitter there
beside the bay on sandy stretches filled with knobbly
logs, swayed to shapes of soft smooth curves,
carbuncle toadstools on the trees, like aunts
and uncles rocking, rising falling on their walking sticks,

Sick Kitty

You haven’t read this nightmare yet,
sometimes I drink just hoping to forget
I have known the pain that it can cause
to do it all again without even a pause…

It’s my self destructive neutron spiral
a dissection of a mad helix, gone viral
telling hell that I have warmed over again
but what’s the real difference in the end

Fuck it all! No one knows how I’ve tried
or that I was willing to lay down and die
tried killing myself with drink and smoke
It feels like I am surviving a really bad joke
