This Person Will Self-Destruct In...

https://www.neopoet.com/workshop/poems/person-will-self-destruct

How far can you let them take you
down the road of self-destruction?
While you try to build them up
help them in reconstruction

Do you let them take the food
from your family's mouth
steal your rent, your sleep
while they are going south?

This week the Neopoem Group has selected Myself, The Horizon, And The Sun by Kajiko as Neopoem Of The Week. Congratulations to Kajiko on winning this week's contest!

Thank you to the group for their efforts in selecting the weekly poem

Myself, The Horizon, And The Sun

https://www.neopoet.com/workshop/poems/myself-horizon-and-sun

I:
The sun simply slid past me, threw me a wink which actually was never given, I paused and saw only the horizon, I saw its essence, evident display of affective signatures so typical to non-verbal utterances of what we dreamt of being: US, I and Her, She and I, for whichever way it was stated, it was still US.

II:
Now I know, and I'm sure of what Pain is, because there never was a good bye, well at least not verbally, but good byes were "said." But then, surprisingly, I never stood a chance to make and present my plea, no jury, no court, safe the clouds of uncertainties and blankets of woes concurrently beating me to sleep at every point in time.

Off Ramps

It's been so long I can't recall
anything but this highway
which I've shared with one and all
as time and life both slip away.

Just another traveler amongst the crowd.
kinfolk, friends and strangers too.
Rushing, passing, boisterous, loud
all in a hurry to get to.....

The stream (all workshops)

This is the stream - you can see all poems on Neopoet, live, as they are created.

(I could have danced all night)

You help recall
some one
who still lives in my heart
entered through a keyhole
in my eye
as she did smile
and
her soft voice
is an everlasting memory
just a wee part

I always smile
she left us all
seemingly for a while
but within my heart
left an indelible smile...

''I could have danced all night''

still I hear
from the one
who was to mostly
like a bright sun

very dear

I like, I don't like

I love the smell of roses
Yet I’d rather see them die.
I hate leaving people,
But I love the goodbye.

I don’t like when people see me,
They hate how gruesome healing can be.
But I love how crimson seeps,
The stain that’ll stay in my sheets.

I like it when it’s quiet,
But I hate how it’s never silent.
I love white noise and stillness,
But I hate that I’ll never kill this.

And I know nothing lasts,
I love the comfort that brings.
But I can’t stand the end,
And how forgetting stings.

My Lost Rib

My lost rib, slumber to my eyes
Between life and death,
Rest to my soul in an aisle of fire and water;
Hang like rubicons of honour on my neck;
Paint my lips with long in the tooth kisses
That fell in with your virgin lips
Like a toy in the shape of a barrel that emits sounds of laughter.

Alone in the night

Alone in the night
I hide from
the looming light .
That seeps
into the center
of every
single soul that
has ever
grasped upon the
insidious
idea. Which forever
dances towards
the topic
titled death .

Truth or Dare

Truth like murder will finally come out
A voice that sat in silence, now just has to shout
Truth can truly blind you
It's brighter than the sun
A flame in the dark
Burning like powder from a gun

It may shoot out from the side of your mouth
Or come in the blink of an eye
The way a windscreen shatters, hit by a tiny fly
it’s a bitter pill to swallow
Hard to chew and digest
but like all sickly medicines
it’s prescribed for the best

‘BOUT TIME

The drums are pounding a beat
you can’t just ignore
you have visions of Native Americans
expressing their Sun Dance around the fire

boom, boom, boom, Boom
all listen, move as if it is perfectly clear
boom, boom, Boom, BOOM
expressing, emoting together, a quickening towards the is
those double bass drums
continue to make more than only a pedestrian beat
drawing you in until
your brain is one with the beats inside your ears

A Passing Fancy (by eddy styx)

A Passing Fancy (by: eddy styx)

We Are

The wrong chords to a beautiful song,
The scar on her beautiful visage,
The noise in absolute silence,
The youth and the restless,
The Broken Hallellujah,
The lie in small truth,
A pause in violence,
The fireless flame
A smoke, a dust.

It's Hard To Breathe

It's hard to breathe
Feels like I'm falling
Black hole waiting
To swallow me down

Can someone help me
I'm losing air;
It's getting harder to breathe
Is there anybody out there

A blanket of darkness
Surrounds me; covering my soul
I'm so cold; yet still aware
Does anyone care?

Don't Hide in Mystery

I'm a mind explorer
A terrible listener
But a focused reader
And a story compiler

A mind explorer who is afraid of the world
A terrible listener who prefers to stay in the cold
A focused reader who loves to see what's the opposite of reality
A story compiler of other people's fantasy

Yes that's me
I hide in every mystery
I also hide myself behind silence
That's the only place that serves a defence
