Life At Dawn

It’s a brand new dawn
hear the birds sweetly singing.
See them flying, perching grooming, canoodling
Darting here and there all in a happy play.

The rays of sunlight
Those radiant beams a glowing.
Uninvited guests they are but welcoming
For at every visit are burdens to slay.

The dew on the rose buds
slowly melting in the morning sun dripping.
Down to the ground undoubtedly, cooling, irrigating
I’ve never seen life so happy and gay.

WILLIAM'S SIN

William must have done great wrong
and in many generations past
for it to be recalled so long
I guess that he is now typecast

For now even in these days
(or maybe I should say these nights)
underneath the spring moon's gaze
aggrieved offspring still state their rights

What did he do to some bird then
that in the night when all is still
offspring demand redress of sin
by asking that we Whip Poor Will?

MY FATHER'S HOUSE

MY FATHER’S HOUSE

My father’s house is built
of mortar and stone
and stands a thousand years
or more
strong among all others
alone.

My father’s house is my name
and my name is the world
I carry in my seed

My father’s house is honor
dignity and pride.

I am my father’s house
standing strong
alone
against the shame
you bring to your own

willow tree

i fell,
i fell ever so gracefully
into a forbidden part of your garden
into a tunnel of roots and earth
and i fell like a dancer prancing in space
attired in a light patterned cotton and lace
elegance of a late twenties flair
with a garland of pretty flowers in my hair

Reassurances for an Ex-Arachnophobic

Just
when I felt
claustrophobic..
a spiders skin,
shed.

When
I had forgotten
how to shine..
a web, wet
in the streetlight.

When
I thought
I couldn't get up,
that the rain
might never stop..
Incy Wincy.

Dear God

Dear God, you heartless bastard
Where the devil have you been
You’ve not been near nor by me
You have not been heard or seen
I have had no words of wisdom
Nor some fatherly advice
All my prayers have gone unanswered
Now, that isn’t very nice
Though I know I’m not an angel, and
In fact, sometimes I’m hell
There is good inside me somewhere
As I’m sure that you can tell
For the love of bleeding Jesus
I have never asked for much
If a miracle’s a problem
Could you please, just get in touch

See You In Geometry, Princess

i'll be there by 1:20
and by 1:20 i'll be gone
with a breeze on my back
pressing memories into my hands
and a car that passes calls me
because i used to know the sound
now only once in a while
i used to know the smell of rain on the concrete
dropping everything when the sprinklers went on
pebbles from the park still in my pocket
along with a sigh and your smile
i'm staring out the window
i'm thinking of you
can you feel it?

Carnally Evil (only for adult minded)

Carnally evil (only for adult minded)
The life within my arms
was tried
from day one to the end
but I had no need to say
Amen,
Till today I have
yet not been totally spent…

The souls belonging to a species of a kind
leave indelible memories far behind,
betwixt curvaceous arms and limbs
we slaughtered
day without and day within
yet not satiated to the fullest extent,
we still have many more years unspent…,

Connected With Nature

I very rarely get up at the breaking of dawn
a blanket of muddy clouds
overcasts

an eyelash slither of light sliped pass
as the crescent moon cuts it's way through
with a wink

suddenly, in the neighbors yard next door
three startled deer stood in line
watching me
as I turned into my driveway

a quick dash and off
they ran for the thick woods
safe from the light of my headlights

C R U C I A L F L A G G E L A N C E

we whip dead horses
frenzy dance
in damp clay t rance

the sparrow tree with
its death fingers stroking
a bitter blue
a greater hue

broken soul
fragments corner
like a wheel broken
like a wagon token

carrying beneath
the load of rain
forgotten pains
