Mum... You and I

By: Rula

Together we witnessed time ebbs and tides:

we went through ups, we went through downs,

yet luckily we got each other's sides,

you and I, you and I.

Together, unwillingly, we grew old,

with devestating wrinkles, and white hair.

We both raised families, yet we're still bold

You and I, you and I.

Together we laughed, together we cried:

I uplifted your spirits, you got my tears wiped,

we stayed together, side by side,

You and, I you and I.

Together we lived for worse and better,

until Alzheimer's stole you, my bank of love,

although you promised to stay forever

You and I, you and I.

My Gold

By Mr joghe

In whom I spent my old days and nights,

Who rocked me in my cradle;

And fed my pretty mouth with a spoon,

Did weep while I should weep.

How much will I pay

For the pain you’ve taken for me?

Who worked that jumper to keep me warm;

Treated me with diffidence and respect,

Her healthy arms always be my stay,

And always admired my prudent face that filled with laughter.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Who tired me with apology for being tiresome,

And asked twenty questions and never waited for an answer.

My timidity struck her at the first sight;

When she taught me to expect something extraordinary.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I find such a pleasure

In obeying her commands,

That I take care to observe;

Shall soon come to bless me.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

I vow, I thought so;

Never, as among queens and princesses

In her age; to be explicit,

I’ve kept very little company

In pretty smooth dialogues with her.

How much will I pay

For the pains you’ve taken for me?

Love Is Painful

When I saw you on the street
You were wiggling oh so sweet,
Then I tripped over my own feet.

I said "Hello, sidewalk
Let’s have a talk.”

With sweater tight as pantyhose
Showing off your pair of those
Dang it! Now I’ve blooded my nose.

I said "Hello, brick wall,
Will that be all?"

You sashayed into the room
And I promptly tripped over a broom;
The sound was like a sonic boom!

I said "Hello there floor,
Let's chat some more."

OIL PAINTING

OIL PAINTING

Oozing through the tube the gaudy paint
splotches, the canvas
widening, floating across the sheet of white
it stops, as the brush sweeps its gooey mass
in a big circular form,
the thickness varying the depth of colour,
it meets another splotch of contrasting colour,

they meld, combine and race round
making a scratching sound
that has a sense of urgency and splash,
to produce another amalgamate of pigment,
feathered in to the structure of the cloth.

Haiku (Revised)

flirting playfully
droplets of dewy diamonds
charm her rosy blush

thanks to comments by Judyanne and Ann i wrecked up my brains to come up with this revision and got rid of the original title

Midday Moon (exercise 1 rhyme crimes workshop)

Surreal and vast, the vision here before me
A landscape harbouring a double will
that seeks a freedom mixing sadness, glee
portrayed and painted with artistic skill

Across abundant, waving ears of green
(impressing, somehow, somewhat too much glow
as if to draw attention from the scene
to hide where, under arbours, secrets grow)

as daisies lazily soak up the sun
and marigolds reflect its amber light
the shadows are obscure and gloomy, dun
the flowers far too incandescent, white

Workshop:

The Arrogant (Rhyme Crimes WS)

I've been here for years
roaming the earth-my land,
Sowing the seeds of fears
with my own cruel hand.

I've committed the sin,
mimicked the demon's deeds,
I stole and killed my kin
Now I'm reaping the weeds.

Workshop:

EDIFICE..ENTICE

rain rich
burial
garment fresh

the control was the test
ring finger hand
riding shoulder shotgun

capillary dreams
await
shunting the show

and the world
exhales in its draw
like your blurry funny
way

how you love
through

HAIKU (Japanese poetry shop)

Seems I heard or read that Haiku are usually untitled........

#1
As sweat drips from brow
even beneath a shade tree
comes dreams of winter

#2
The new mown hay field
wild flowers and grass like thatch
where now butterfly?

#3
Let the storm winds howl
let them toss the fields and trees
tempests seldom last

wait for me ...my firstest poem here

Wait for me
around the edge
when it’s my time
hold my hand
squeeze it gently
to show your love

come to my arms
just for a while,
as time slips
below my feet
when in a whiff
I’m about to go
over the cliff
hold me tight
just once more
for then who knows for sure
whether I shall be

Hello (Haiku)

Haiku

Ladies day I walk
Midday sun no shadow thrown
A summertime home

Haiku

There is a deep hole
Where the water is well down
Drop bucket to fill

Haiku

The leaf twisted off
Fell to the hard frozen ground
The shadows grew long

Haiku

Water fell in space
Rainbow above holding all
beauty of a mist

Senyru

Many bad pains felt
A bonding that makes you cry
Tiny hands reach out

Senyru

A Doctor's Patience

I know exactly what's up, friend
and I usually have things right;

but in my quest to not offend
I'll try my best to seem polite.

I don't care much for conflict, so
at those times I may look away;

but, I'll remember times with you
wish I'd stayed at home that day!

You're brand of scandalousity
does almost make me ill;

a detour would have set me free
avoiding clashes with your will.

Your hidden mind agendas, or
what really makes me tense;
