the last swallow

if fall was
the devil we worshipped
give me back
the green spring when
suppleness was leaves
nothing withered and
with you
found flowers
on the edge of lips

the uneasy truce exists
when, at final call
the last swallow is seen
but i come once more
after snow pales skies
swipes your skin
as if it seeks your ache

we lie amid
magenta dawnings
to stare upwards-
the left of a sun
frowned and puzzled that

together
we are
summer saved

Babe Hold On To me

Babe hold on to me like you love me
Kiss me softly till I fall asleep
Make me know your heart is mine
Though I know it’s not so kind

Babe hold on to me like you love me
Speak sweet words till I’ve fallen deep
Make me believe you adore me
Though I know it’s not to be

Babe hold on to me like you love me
Take me away to loves’ key
Make me see paradise in your eyes
Though I know it’s just a lie

Demons, in the Rough

Should you wander out
amidst nights' "twilight time",
it can end up going one of two ways;

if you fail to notice,
which would be a major crime;
youll have to wait, and see how the evening...plays.

Should you venture into
this "twilight force",
I can't emphasize this, nearly enough;

your existence will completely change,
and that's just "par for the course";
those, are your demons in the rough!

HE THINKS I AM BLIND

My figure in numeric scale was eight
Flat stomach and nicely curved hips
Then I was the only apple in his eyes
So, I fell into faithfulness ever since
Ageing came with grey to add the extra
Weight on thighs and waist won over
The fruit eaten, the seeds left to grow

Definadjectives

Will you stop crying, go to sleep
and finish all your food;

get up, get dressed, and ready for school
and lose the attitude!

Do your homework, do your chores
and let your brother play;

change that outfit right this second
finish the yardwork on saturday.

Don't talk like that, spit that out
wait 'til your father gets home;

stop fidgeting when I'm talking to you
haven't you ever heard of a comb?

Don't be late, look both ways
take your sister by the hand;

unconditional

sun and stars shine
the earth moves
away
and light of day is never seen
when night falls;

the lotus blossom
never opens too early
or too late

there is justice in the world
of nature, its birth cry
a howling when once
four-legged creatures
stood on a hill
and the moon
reflected

the ocean,
dripping from
hands with
opposing thumbs.

Train Watching

the sin of idleness debunked
I just sit
waiting for the moon

a penny for my thoughts is wasted
so save it for those rainy days

now, my mind still joyously plays and displays
its toy trains
but, I am not aboard

on the side line
watching the carriers of
knowlege and speculation
meander down self laid tracks
I nod, and wave,
and sit back to enjoy the show

for what it's worth
being here,
not trying to get someplace,
is worth every penny, nickle, dime and dollar
in the world

One Dimensional

I wonder why my human eyes
don't see clouds in three dimensions.
They flit by overhead
on blue canvas,
while the view from planes
evokes mountains, valleys,
and lo,
the very City of God.

But from down here
clouds are little more
than a flat Mona Lisa.
Oh, how I wish I knew
the full person,
but she
just stares and wrily smiles
in one dimension.

He Left His Kitten

Gazing at furry paws
slapping white cord pulls
mesmerizes her.
Wooden tassels clunk together,
waving to and fro,
like a tetherball on a playground pole
spanked by busy children.
He left his kitten,
his curious kitten.

Outside snowflakes
float downward
like pieces of paper
torn from his exit note in her hands
and like bits of cotton
the kitten pulls from her pillow.
He left his kitten,
his curious kitten.

FISHING PARTNER

The lowering sun upon my back
I quietly wade through shallows
for fly fishing, I have the knack
this evening as I fish with swallows

Strip the line in even strokes
then pick it up with strong back cast
careful to not snag shore line oaks
the day approaches darkening fast

Now lightly lay the line back down
placing feathered dry fly next to shore
concentration causes a happy frown
my mind on fishing, nothing more
