ANYWAY

People are unreasonable, illlogical and self centered. Love them anyway....

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish interior motives. Do good anyway....

If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway....

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway....

What you spend years building may be destroyed over night. Build anyway....

People really need may attack you if you help them. Help people anyway...

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you've got anyway....

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

Love this, however, it would be best to quote the source...http://www.prayerfoundation.org/mother_teresa_do_it_anyway.htm.

My only quibbles would be the lack of a space after some of the commas
and this line here > "People really need may attack you if you help them."
I think you should add these words "People *who* really need *you*....."
or change it to something like "People in need may attack you...."
Just to make the line cleaner and more concise.

Other than that, i enjoyed the read.

Oooh just noticed earlier comment on source..
To which i agree. Otherwise you might be best removing it..
Also, never heard of that one before..
Always good to read anew :)

...

Yes it is, however, the original *source* is needed to be attributed, lest one things the poster @Neopoet wrote it.

Which I hope would be an issue with anyone.

The verses below reportedly were written on the wall of Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta, India, and are widely attributed to her.

Some sources say that the words below were written on the wall in Mother Teresa's own room. In any case, their association with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity has made them popular worldwide, expressing as they do, the spirit in which they lived their lives.

They seem to be based on a composition originally by Kent Keith, but much of the second half has been re-written in a more spiritual way. Both versions are shown below.

1. The version found written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

-this version is credited to Mother Teresa

The Paradoxical Commandments

by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

I Think this poem was spot on as far as it's assessment of alot of people in this world, and I liked the positive slant you gave it. It may be just personal taste, but I think it would be better not to repeat the word, ' anyway,' at the end of every line, maybe you could brake it up a little by just not adding it to each line.

Stand tall, be proud to be who you are, give the world the finger!!!!

For God's sake, doesn't anyone glance over the remarks? I mean, how much time does it take to glance through the commentaries?

Lou? Ian?

This is not original work and as far as I know, it needs accreditation.
