To Unlove You

Submitted by Kristen H.

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

SHRIEK

SHRIEK

Shreik! the leak in yonder pipe,
is permanently dripping,
run go fetch a bucket,
for its running rancid water,
of a funny sort of green.

with the cellar door ajar,
it will air the scene to dry,
and the straw upon the floor,
will soak excess.

a netting hung from nails,
to the pegs above the frame,
a spade can hold the middle,
for the draught.

AMONG THE DUNES

Our juggernaut soon won the war
and did so in near record time
it was in peace the fight went on
and therein lies the crime

Far off in the shifting sands
along deserted dusty roads
barbarians still vented wrath
with improvised explosive loads

Did not most men welcome us
in ridding their country of Hussien
or did they just embrace the chance
of garnering some private gain

Sex After LIFE What Imagination

Do you know?
Some waste a life time
Preaching no sex
Some can't sex
Some vex ,
some let others show, their sex
Some only see others sex
like in porn

What after life
can you boast of?
Enjoy sex now
As there is no hereafter death

The priests and the good Lord knoweth too
They quietly do
Don’t you?

Pains of the Heart

Can death come
Without a grave
Does love out last
Time and space

What of spirit
Can it hover
To enter inside
Another empty place

Will an emotion
Begin to fade
When not stroked
By loves embrace

Can you give
What's not wanted
In a box
Wrapped with lace

Who can say
Where the heart
Might indeed go
To find grace

Honest Abel

In an alley past the hollow
there lies a field, and a shack
with an easement allowing traffic but one way;

Abel's existence is hard to swallow
he can't help but to look back
ever wishing that he knew what he would say.

With his hound dog at his heels
Abel's living with his ghosts
long ago, his woman left him in the night;

I know exactly how he feels
and, he's not the sort who boasts
in fact, he's usually, ordinarily polite;

The Gothic Teenager!

The teenager in you
Is full of bubbles
And
Belief in tin soldiers,
With nonchalant glee
And
The way of expression starts with doubt,
Will a tin soldier ever love me?
Or make me believe
That all he is, a lover boy
And
For that to secure himself,
He may lie, to lie with me.

Oh young, as I was a kid,
I picked up an ink pen,
This is now replaced by men.

I am a musician and play a guitar,
A piano drums too…
I wanted to draw but couldn’t do.

Farewell to Sham

I asked an old ally to see me
Long before New Year day
Excuses follow all the way
A text endorsed that eve to be

Watch through or tarry night
Sacred ground lent the excuse
Cordiality turned into abuse
Daring me to start a fight

A leopard’s spots change not, they say
Mere visit packaged to court and test
Susan and Steve squared for a contest
Till reproof put inconstancy at bay

A Kyrielle

When queried as to where I live,
I ponder not and always give
an answer I’ve prepared to say ~
that “Heaven’s not so far away.”

May God have mercy on us all,
for we’ve been haunted since The Fall,
but I am grateful every day
our Heaven’s not so far away.

My home, my life is paradise.
I live in grace and pay no price,
for with my wife as we turn grey
my Heaven’s not so far away.

Spent

Memories like ashes
Blowing in the breeze
Separating and disappearing
A whisper

Thoughts of you
Like tinder
Burning me in your flames

Incinerating my brain
Leaving me breathless
Insane

I construct barriers
To keep you away
Too hot to touch

DISMOUNT

water weary weather
dripping in slush puddle
dampness in the boots
and all the damned hub bub
rolling down the mall
we move against each
other like a worn old team
surviving lifes skirmishes
to now

A battered jacket and wary eyes
a ragged purse with no suprise
we pick and shop getting what
we want
knowing eachs backs
the strengths and the breaking
places
