To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

AMBIGUOUS LOVE

Sister Sarah said, her siblings are green
Steeped in the blues they fall headlong
When dealing with a willing opposite
Undefined emotions embedded in senses
Presumed love befall a smiling snare
Like a bubby traps set at rabbit holes

She prayed never to be caught there in
Declared fervidly, ‘Na love I go chop’
Her love has eyes on a thinking cranium
To see the masked on these preying people
A community that takes and thwacks hard
Like banana peels to stomach and bin

The Marine

As I lie here,
In this long forgotten place,
I realize I must look queer,
With this smile upon my face,
My blood has soaked the ground,
My rivers course run out,
But in this hour I have found,
Not one reason to sit and pout,
For all of those who came before,
And all of those to follow,
Destined are we now to soar,
To our families greater sorrow,
We’ve died on the shores of Tripoli,
And one day maybe mars,
We’ve died so you could say you’re free,
In each and every conflict of ours,

Wild Child

Heed to the call of the rough winds,
Wild child
- Untamed soul.
The voice of the wolves of the steppes
Howling from the mountains beyond,
beckon to you.

Be mired not in the madness
of the humans broken world.
Neither loan to it a magical wand
Nor a simple helpful hand;
They’re both needless like desert sands.

Just harken to the horizon’s thundery
And follow after the lightening’s path
away from this void
before the human madness laugh
all to the crimson glory of death

All That is Golden

stars in my eyes
they shine
and the scent in the air
is fine
flowers as thoughts,
form into words ,
as a synchronized frequency in tune
with the music made by the moon

secrets and marvel
unfold
all that is golden
is sold
But love remains.

NARCISSE

NARCISSE

In cool waters calm and clear
I seek the reflection
that is truly me.
and deeper I delve
into my mind so still
I drink the visions
of my other self
my soul
my ecstasy

Betrayal (an acrostic) edited

Betryal

Bending meanings you are
Ever the artist
Trying within your mind
Rationalizing and twisting every nuance
As you go after your desire, disregarding
Your loyalty and devotion
Always seeing to your own needs first
Love is eaten by the lion of your lust

The Fall of a Legendary Gunfighter

There once
was a gunfighter

He was
known throughout
the land

People knew
of his
exploits
far and wide

Now he is
standing
stock still

His eyes
on his challenger

Hands at
his sides
ready to grab
his six shooter
in a split second

Hands pulsating
waiting to feel
the grips
of his guns

Sweat coming off
his brow

His long coat
fluttering
in the wind

And waiting for
the clock tower
to chime
high noon

Waiting for my love

Waiting for my love
To come back from the sea
Then I saw the flight of the dove
I wish that my love was with me
But on that fateful night
I knew he isn't here
I have seen the bright light
The night is clear
Crying all night long
I knew he was gone

a p o c r y p h a l . a t t e n u a t i o n

shrive against the soul borne
peste
the sleek winds keening
in tombs the dead are waking
a red masque is waiting
soft underlings demand
their STAE

the dark eye seeks
for echo weeps
the fires of lividity lick
embers to the stars
and the dark ones
shall stretch from
their keep

That Snowfall

The winter season, kept all of us waiting for snow,
the temperature was right for it, well below zero.
the chill factor of the wind kept me warm indoors
in my comfortable home with all of its three floors.

As the temperature fell we waited day after day
for the snow to fall which we hoped was on its way.
we hoped the rain would come at any day
as we were ready to see the clouds roll away.
