Summer Image Prompt Challenge Winner!

The winning poem of the Summer Image Prompt Challenge is

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

THE STRIPPER

Standing alone for all to stare
immodest limbs slowly sway
taking no notice, doesn't care
what you might think of the display

Only one light on comely form
but, then, one's all that's needed
disrobing has become the norm
gawking and dropped jaws go unheeded

Garish garb is slowly shed
slow dancing to an unheard tune
there goes the cloth of mostly red
full nudity will be here soon

Realization

With always busy life
from every side defiled
by those whom unending strife
took to new lows of sin reviled

I suddenly realized
their cold antipathy
successful living demonized
was nothing but a bleak facsimile
of the human psyche unraveled.

FULL CIRCLE

the Discontent began -
surreptitious and slow,
stirring beneath a cauldron
of pained resentment
neither owned,
nor wished to know

Assiduously acknowledged as normal, "part of growth"
The blows became insidious
glancing past repose.
Striking at the very heart of her being
This man rescinding his gifts -
His love, His feelings.

(eddy styx:) Dark Moon

Dark Moon

being not fond of moonlight
When I ply my trade
I tend toward the filmy
veil of shadows and
the dark moon mysteries
my excellent night vision
keeps me on target
bringing me to your
irresistible circular stair
where I the candle snuffer
will extinguish your fragile flame
and shed a heartfelt tear
as I witness the fading embers
and the one pure moment
of created dying art

darkest night

inside each melody --
fragrant spark
playing round us

incandesces everything
at once

on light beams, songs
for their own pleasure play

desideratum's designedly
desiring desist of
insanity's mare of night

melodies play on
nonetheless, so there will
be light in darkest night.

WHO AM I NOW?

"WHO AM I NOW?"
Margaret Ann Waddicor, 16th November 2010.

A moment look on high
be swallowed by the sky (I did just that and was swallowed)
self esteem find the cream/queen
deep in the mind
unless you are a sychophant
a damned great social elephant.

Prejudices ridden
illusions gone
religion's confusions cleared away
all fear of others judging
what and why you tick
whether you conform to norms
ethical.

Free

Uncoil, with gradual breaths
Open your eyes ,refocus,
 twenty twenty vision..

Free
span the breadth
and width , expand.

Laugh, cry, scream
Let it all out.
Expose yourself to reality.

Free.
span the breadth
and  width,
expand.

London Is Calling!

London Is Calling!

Hello all aboard
This is Londoner poet calling
Attention all Londoners
Shirley Harrison is
about to be landing

Unfurl your masks
And
besides her stand
Give a bouquet
or a garland in her hand
All Londoners now stand
Give a standing ovation
To dear Shirley

Who is this Neopoet?
Well known too!
Arrives now early
Welcomes
London to thee
Dear Shirley
Can in the din
You hear Me.?

Thieves Of Fate

.
harbingers, soothsayers, seers, witches
begone, scat, remove theselves
from my world's events

liars, the lot
tenders of calamity and confusion
the only fate can be known for sure
is my wrath for trifling in my presense

take thy clownish selves to partake
in a carnival of pleasures and games
jokesters and jesters by your sides
and a gaggle of ogling patrons to witness
this silly and sad melodrama you produce

mine own eyes and mind will deliver
the calculus, and decision

Just another name

Heaven:
just another name for home,
not a destination.
Where we all belong
and from where we came
to spread ever outwards
and manifest paradise.

Earth:
just another name for home,
not a travel vehicle.
Where we all belong
and to where we came
to bring unconditional love
and manifest paradise.

Hell:
just another name for home,
not a threat.
Where we all belong
and where we find ourselves
if we forget how to love
and manifest paradise.
