To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Snatched

in my dreams I imagined angels
but along came devils with turned up
fairy-kissed noses

mischief prancing buoyantly
in two sets of saucer-shaped, blue oceans
that brimmed over with fun
sometimes temper
sometimes sadness

but always love

two happy sopranos
sang through two little rosebuds
winked their way
through a world relished with
the uniqueness of youth and newness

that could, at times I needed quiet harmony
send me to the epiphany of madness

Abbots Forge

Came the wind one day
that took my hand,
Pushing me along the sands
and me a lad twelve years no more,
Heading down to Abbots Forge

The workings gone,
the roof caved in,
the sides just bent and rusting tin,
from another age when it was clad,
but me a young and sturdy lad,
I chanced to brave the dark within
and the curse of Abbots Forge.

They say he killed his wife a new,
Old Abbot with his motley crew,
accused her of betrayal too,
A claim posed by her kin,

PRAYER ASSIGNMENT TO CONQUER

When it is good for you
Won’t we have to share it?
Who ever disturbed you
Know we are affected too
In the good name of Him
Whom we bow to worship
I rebuke laziness
Stubbornness and ill luck
I rebuke the restless spirit

Men went on hunting spree
Women kept the home safe
What went wrong in the bush
when man fails to benefit
From fruits of his labour
Should home be forgotten?
I rebuke unsteady mind
Shatter impediment
Set on your pathway way

Self Conflict

Dazed with pitiful bleary eyes
Spirit hopeless but in disguise
He acts strong but inside he cries
His life he wish he could revise
Bound to fail even if he tries
Anger explodes with no surprise
Blood an tears will fall as heart beat rise
Then fall asleep and meet his demise

Damn Luna, I'm Going To Hell

somebody changed the face of the moon.
Luna was pretty before
but now she is breathtaking
instead of bright gray eyes lit by the sun
peering out from behind the clouds adrift
i see green eyes lit by the stage light
and the silent ache behind them
that is yelling in my ear
and boring into my bones
and closing her fingers 'round my neck
but yes, it is all welcome because
if good things take time, then
damn
this is going to be great.

When

When
we compose poetry
just think of others as fools ,,
who know not a wink
of what you want to convey,
in the darkness
as you wink at a beautiful gal,
you alone know what you'd do
but then twill be only you...
the world would continue to remain
dumbfounded
and
this the only one ,
you'd be who knew..

Tin Man

I know of things yielded by "pride"
in fact, I've seen first hand
I'm sharing my own observations
so, you may better understand.

We've seen the dissapointments
where consequences were so mean;
but I've spied quite the opposite
'twas the damnedest thing I've ever seen!

He made it up to this desert
quite a ways from down by the beach;
believing he'd find happiness,
but it was always just out of reach.

Precipice (edited)

Precipice

Frantic

on the verge
of the ultimate
precipice
imprudently looking down
as a toe dangles
to take the last step
into the yawning maw
of insanity's plunge

decision's brink

to stay holding
to safety's line
clinging to life
out on an emotional limb
fighting for a breath
of enlightenment
to make sense
of the mysterious puzzle
growing ever larger
with complicated
life...

APPARITION

I saw, it saw, we saw each other in the dark,
the lark had gone to rest, the stars came out,
the park was clothed in mist, the mist of winter's dress,
its breath the breath of owls or eagles in their nests,
that rips the air with talons of disguise,

we close our eyes and blast the fog away,
to stand revealed as apparitions,
forced to birth from skies of stormy clouds,
you stood there naked only clad with hair,
that swayed about your form caressing it,

Ozone has been shot

Ozone has been shot
sky weeps
lay a hand, even you can feel earth's quaking
science says its just a flesh wound
nothing eternal.
But look and you will see our bite marks on mother nature's nipples
Ingrates we are!
Our effects are two fold;boomerang and ripples.
Ozone has been shot
night is mourning
Our need for a fag sent billows of smoke into the unborn yet in its 1st trimester
Our gay and bi-laws were bye laws to sanity.
Because we seeked friendship for tweety and slyvester
