July 2024 Contest Winners
Congratulations to our Winners!
The Winner of the Conversation With ... is Rula with the following poem
The Quill-Poet's Parley
by Rula
With a rustic nib, burnt out and done,
An undusted feather laid down, forlorn.
Whispering days an endless despair,
"Forsake me not in the attic's stale air."
"I had the aspiration, I had the will,
I always admired you, my precious quill.
You were my pal through tough times,
We often crafted some good rhymes."
What happened then? What went wrong?
Why did you neglect me that long?
Did you desert me for a better friend?
Could this be our friendship's end?
"Never shall I relinquish you
For we're one, never two
Revive my quill, let stories ignite
Together we'll conquer the glooms of night."

The Winner of the 07/24 Mistress in the Closet is Mark with the following poem
From the Willows
By Mark
We gazed at the psychedelic sun
blazing an undefined path on melting asphalt
the soles of our naked feet could not feel
as our pinwheel hillsides had become barren
except for the fireworks of memories
or the beauty of our youth.
Mummified angels with blood-stained wings
we could not see what was real.
Your living turned dragon black
as you shared the poison that became our good-byes.
You could only hear,
and not speak back to the love
that had followed you all along.
Your own flesh would not leave your side
crying sympathy
for what you once were …
a colorful young garden.

The Winner of the 07/24 On The Road is Mini with the following poem
Chase
By Mini
On the road where dreams unfold,
Adventure calls with stories untold.
Wheels turning to freedom's call,
Guided by a beckoning drawl.
Ahead lies a vast expanse,
Leaving behind the past’s dance.
Sunsets paint the evening sky,
As stars twinkle up on high.
From dusty paths to city streets,
Nature's beauty, where the beauty meets
Faces met along the way,
Each one adding to our day.
Mountains high, valleys low,
Time’s passing, memories grow.
Through the unknown we make our way,
On this journey, come what may.
Whispers of the wind, tears of the sky,
Moments fleeting as days fly by.
Endless roads, twists and turns,
On this journey, our hearts yearn.
Footsteps marking time and space,
Seeking a never-ending chase.
Every mile, a part of our whole,
On the road, finding our soul.

The Winner of the 07/24 Lost My Wallet is Punkyfrewster with the following poem
Who Am I, Even?
I look in my
purse, and my
wallet is missing.
I sit down to
give it a more
thorough look.
The wallet is lost.
An existential
crisis arises.
No license.
No pictures.
No credit cards.
I grapple with
who I am
and if I am.

The Winner of the 07/24 Falling For My Therapist with the following poem
Falling For My Therapist
By Candlewitch
In this place of dank, dark cold
brought on by despondency,
misery of matters murky and old.
History of abuses buried deep,
with gentle fingers, he guides...
dimming lights, bidding me sleep.
Hearing his soft mellow tones,
I feel my consciousnesses drift
to a time of pubescent woes and moans.
His voice is the anchor tethering me
to past present and future,
where I find answers to be.
He hears me when I'm speaking
Without judgement he is clear
almost magick, knowing what I am seeking.
How could I not feel such sheer enchantment
for this strong guide of lost souls ,
this wielder of enhancements?
