I think
workshops should continuously be under media's coverage.
it is what distinguishes Neopoet from other sites, I believe.

There
likely are a Lot of people who are famous for reasons other than their poetry. Perhaps periodical digging one of them up and posting one of their poems would be a good idea. And this would be a really good time to start. Did you know Leonard Nimoy was also a published poet? Why not delve into this and display one of his poems.
Or you could take somebody who is mainly known for their poetry and let us know of their other accomplishments. Just an idea

Both excellent ideas, Stan
care to make a start?
I need concrete input here.

See my blog
"In memorium for Leonard Nimoy". I had no idea he was a poet until it was mentioned after he died. I then read 5-6 of his poems and realized he was a very good minimalist free verse poet (at least in my opinion). Should be easy for one of the media types here to take this and run with it. Or are you asking for something already completed? I could give such a shot and zip it to one of you via PM and then you can use it or not as you see fit

yes
do that, please. Remember to copy and paste to save yourself ages of typing time and us the grief of having things misquoted.

Stan's contest winners piece would be good if put out to the media side, as a monthly poem from Neopoet, will suggest more as I come across anything of note, Yours Ian

How about a sentiment of the day or week.
"He who draws noble delights from sentiments of poetry is a true poet, though he has never written a line in all his life. ~George Sand, 1851"
Here is my first. I'm sure others have more.
I end my comments with one:
"Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary. ~Khalil Gibran"
W. H. Snow
A poet is a nightingale, who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds. Percy Bysshe Shelley

also
I hope to eventually have holiday specific contests as well as monthly. But until then why not choose a poem from among the members which is specific to each celebration. For example, St. Patrick's day is coming up then Easter.

Stan
Most times during the year I put poems on stream that are for that day in my memory but some are a memory I have in my banks, my St Patricks is of a love I knew, but couldn't keep, and it is now 37 years ago though it is half my lifetime ago it is as yesterday.
I always post the remembrance poem I wrote it has been put on stream for the last few years but it is only there for a short while as St P I will look in my library and see about the special days ones and send them.
I have even put the words to the Taps on stream but sometimes I lose faith in others when seeing how many comment on the words..
My Father fought in Egypt during the 14-18 war he went in the army when he was 17 to be with his brothers..
We need a blog or something to be able to put them so they can be copied and pasted if they are good enough to go on the new edition of Neopoet.
I will leave the thoughts to you and Jess also Wesley.
You take care out here, Yours Ian

Just a thought, if you think it worthwhile,
How about listing the poets on Neo who have published work in print? It might be a plus for the site, or, it might not. Whatever you deem fitting.

I think that any book published will give an insight to the author along with the poetry they write, and its a damn good ad lol.
