To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

Strangers No More

Modern machinery mayhem
the spin of it
the sound crashing
into Tuesday on heavy streets
the pinnacle and article of hard-working man
entering day
your eyes
vistas going blind
hard edges
soon
clouding angry
discontent

where is the truth of silence
in breaking bread?

the world is a tinderbox
the heart lonely and deceived,
there are prophets amoung us
the heart's cage open

STAGES OF LOVE

Say, young girl laughing merrily
lilt in your voice and gleam in your eye
will you hold my hand and walk with me
as teen age years race swiftly by?

Tell me young lady sitting over there
who has become the true love of my life
I'm on my knee asking you to share
hoping you say that you'll be my wife

I can't believe lady what we have done
combined our love to make a new soul
matters not to me whether daughter or son
a happy addition to our family's roll

I love you daddy..

I was stained by your black heart,
And stabbed by your dagger like glare.
Torn by your deep nails.
And drained by your forever thursty feelings of anger,
You forced me to hide behind these gray lines,
And to have my sorrows appear,
Tears often occupied my face,
But that's the way you liked it, huh?
You've left me to drown in such worries,
You've endlessly came to me for sympathy,
Don't you even feel guilt?,
But you always come back for more while my wounds try to heal,
but such matters aside

Out of My Zone

How dare you break my heart so hard and go!
You've tugged my eyes with tears of pain, and woe.
My lips have almost dried, no joys to wet.
No music, only tears and much regret.

I thought that love is more than words-it's deeds.
The golden touch to satisfy our needs.
intriguing will to ease what troubles, mess,
to work together, help, ingrain and bless.

Salutation to the Sun

In my medicine bundle
I found enlightenment
tied together with sweet sage,
sometimes I drifted
away with smoke signals of pretense,
often I ignored my wild wild heart
to seek redemption from the story poem of my life

through it all,
I blazed trails with broken wings on my feet
on a firewalk
with destiny
my salutation to the sun
like a dandelion clock
scattering my pilgrimage
to the four directions
I took at once.

Fumes Of Emptiness

I don't have much to say
worthwhile, I mean
that doesn't seem to stop
most people
or even slow them down.
but me,
I feel a need to be PROFOUND
can't quite figure it
I don't even like profundity
'cause mostly
it ain't,
is it?
more likely, just some
plain ol' jane pretentiousness
...parading in drag

maybe a lack of style
is what I actually meant to write about
but now I'm confused
so,
I'll stop here
and try to sort it out

MOODS AND STYROFOAM CUPS

MOODS

I feel like a strawberry shake
left out in the rain
too watered down
to shake anymore
for anyone.

I feel like a warm
glass of beer
left in the sun
all suds gone
a drink unthinkable .

I feel like a Nathan’s frank
on a stale bun,
A bumble bee
stripes that run
vertically

A styrofoam cup
cigarette butts
soaking in its mud
no use
in any way.

I feel like me today.

saliva

in the youth of flame
mouths water like dogs
panting in the open
to satiate ones wants
pangs of hunger
pants the human tiger

then as age moves on
the hard core goes strong
till it suddenly wanes
and
then you feel age catches,

Being (mindful-memorable-freeform-challenge)

Being

Nowhere does the sun feel as good
Nowhere does the wind blow as gently
Than in the heart of a peace loving man.

Cajun Killer Cooking...

Night air of cooling dampness
Brushes Killer’s face
Searching for new recipes
He’s in this dim lit place

There is a voodoo princess
Better cook than all the rest
Long pig’s her only specialty
Her roasts are just the best

She’s agreed to meet him here
Kitchen, Sacre Bleu Hotel
It is the stroke of midnight
‘Tis black here as a well

He feels a presence enter
Candles begin to glow
She appears before him suddenly
I come, giving what I know
