Why Not

Immortality @82
still look and live young
When I was born into princeliness
for seven years ate butter apples bananas
eighth year Topsy Turvy
fate made me a pauper
still lived though meagerly

Gradually used intelligence
to lead a life of aristocracy
enjoyed every moment
of good health, food and exercise

Was handsome married at 27,
pretty woman
achieved professional success
befitting stature and qualifications
later had kids educated and married
became grandparents to four smart ones
two girls, two boys
leading a richer life than ours

Visited the hospital only annually for medicals
found fit as per age permits.

I age
diseases come on every day’s page
but still we never rage
we have to die of some disease
unless hanged by police.

Later as per Shakespeare
we become sans everything
eyes weak teeth fallen breathless and add on
thus my generation why live in desperation

Death is but written why sulk
all elders who we call ancestors
none stayed back to guard
nor returned to hold

So realize immortality is for none
but those who say God will come
yes he may for some
but when they pass into time’s oblivion
no one will ever god see nor know
yet remaining will continue to bow.

Believe in mortality
live each day happily
till you don’t see the Sun
nor will you know

so do good donate share and help
then silently with the River of life
into the ocean flow as do fish
satisfy your living last wish

Know we all are not
immortal
