When Tragedy Strikes

Without warning,
the Reaper's blade sings.
Life meets its end
in the grip of Fate's hands.

Sadness,
happiness
tears and
laughter,
all lost to the dead,
leaving empty shells
devoid of emotions..

Truly,
the test
is for the living
who saw the harsh face
of a cruel reality
which robbed them
of their loved ones.

death is a reality
but I fear him himself
I ran away from it
letting others have
their goodbyes
etc..
too shaken up too face
the once super strong
people reduced by cancer
to suffering wraiths
I was a coward...
long ago the world was
more smaller...
rituals more important
to birth...weddings...
funerals...
and enoyment of the
living...dances.halloween
dressup..christmases
observed.coming of age
new years...
Ive drifted...no longer
sitting for midnight masse
no birthdays observed
no solstice celebrations
like I once did with others
in tune with nature

but this poem makes me
remember that At least
I did say a few goodbyes
as painful as that was
en excellent poem
on belonging and noting
the passing of human
seasons
