On the way to Grandma's

Chain link traps new-born fronds from bare feet on the run.
Pow wow under stars and stripes amidst it all.
Pollywogs jump from heated pools to cool sidewalks.
Roller skate past the cigarette butts on the way to grandmas.
This is the good weather at McPherson Park.

Drips of smiling faces begin to snow down slowly.
Swallows, swallow drops of dreams and up high
the regal eagle makes its presence atop a
flagpole sitting still.
Drips are steady rain again.

Nighttime arrives with a gushing of sleet.
The field, a sight with teeny boppers with bats running.
Hard softballs yellow, orange and purple.
Those kids try to beat it but find the dugout and a sit down.

A noreastern snowstorm whips in.
The mind becomes lit up in hallelujah of
of the Luna majesty scenery
filled with pleasantries and surprises keen.
(like a first kiss)

On a berm sit and smoke a Winston stub
above the burned and acid-rain washed bath house
where everyone loves to be in the shower
if only fences were not around

The highway is an aqueduct to empty out in the field.
Red raincoats are waterproof rubber as
you pull toy wagons with black wheels that roll
up to grandma’s house.
There are plenty of Oreos in a
cookie jar above the top cabinet
in the kitchen.
It is warm and dry at Grandma’s.

version of Little Red Riding Hood! I guess that you outran the Big Bad Wolf, because I don't see him anywhere! I thoroughly enjoyed this 'Trip' to grandma' house! ~ ~ Geez.
.

It seems that the days and hours that people
are available for chatroom are staggered and
not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?

Thank you Gez,
Mark
