Smell Of Roses

Here I lie, still cold, in my bed

Smell of roses around my head

As she lays down a rose with a sigh

She weeps for me; I know not why

I had a love for her, her not for me

It was a love that could never be

Now I lie here no emotions at all

I can not feel her tears as they fall

Roses were her favorite flower

So with roses her, I would shower

Now she lays roses at my new home

Smell of roses surrounds my tombstone

This is beautifully written. I always believed that people come around once we have passed on and show emotions they did not show to us when we were alive. I never understood why. You have captured that moment beautifully in this poem as well as shared the confusion one must feel as well as those around them that are still living when they see this happening. I suppose when given the benefit of the doubt, perhaps some are sincere but it does make you wonder. Well done!
