On the nature of happiness
I complain to fill the silence
That always falls between us
A secret optimist
When the outliers call for it
So why draw attention to it
Joy, a sleepless sleepover,
Conversations with depths
Remind me that I am in over my head
Saying love ad Infinitum
Till it loses all meaning
As if four-letter words could lead us to redemption
What I’m trying to say
Is I've tried and I've failed
To rhyme happiness with poetry
A shiny collection
Rarities in the deck
I can’t take off the wrapping just yet

about not writing happy stuff, when you aren't happy, who wouldn't? Could be it's just your pessimistic nature, but maybe you just need something funny or happy to write about. There must be something that makes you smile. keep trying...~ Geezer.

it could be the time of year, too. January is usually a let down after December's bustle Of songs and stories. lack of sunlight, short days/long nights. feel better pamper yourself...

Concise language throughout. Striking final line. I sense it to mean: "Not now, but maybe later." Certainly not all poetry needs to be happy, but I truly hope writing and reading poetry brings you a bit of happiness and kinship with other poets. I look forward to reading more!
