A Series of Accidents (God’s Will)

Long ago, time out of mind
Cosmic forces violent
Crash, collide, coalesce
And to the orbits they were sent

Around, around and around
8 planets and the star
Careening through at blinding speed
Spiral fast and travel far

Rocky space craft, humble home
Volcanic forces craft our place
Igneous and fiery gel
Has fashioned you this gentle face

The mountains worn smooth
From eternities of time
Jagged cliffs test the seas
In a timeless dance sublime

All the fated accidents
Billions if not more
Comets couriered water here
Asteroid ends the dinosaurs

Genes mutate, a cell divides
Creates new species still
An endless train of happenstance
I’ll never proclaim as “God’s” will

Last few words:
Inspired by the words of Malachi Constant upon his appearance at “The Church of God the Utterly Indifferent” in Cape Cod after returning from his trips to Mars and Mercury. When asked what happened to you by the congregation his response was “I was a victim of a series of accidents…as are we all.”

Is there really a Church of God the Utterly Indifferent?
Malachi Constant?
I love it! It's absolutely insane! Down to earth kind of thing
that one might expect from a pragmatic millennial.
Nicely done! ~ Geez.

Malachi Constant (constant messenger) is the protagonist of Vonnegut’s Sirens of Titan. It’s my favorite book of all time. So yes, within the confines of that novel, all that stuff exists. I am too old to be a millennial and too young to be gen x. There’s a special term for the kids born like ‘77-‘85. It is Xennial. The internet started when we were in high school. So we adapted to both life with and without technology. Look all of this up it is kinda fascinating.

Tim, dearest Tim... you are always surprising me! I love how you think...I read this to Steve who laughed so much I thought he was going to choke!

*hugs, Cat

p.s.
a suggestion: take the part of god out of the title to get more readers.
just a suggestion.

Seriously you are. I’m glad you and Steve liked it. To me it’s so much more miraculous that I’m a series of infinite events over 14 billion years that culminated in me and you existing at the same time having this conversation, than earth was created in six days like 7000 years ago despite the pleas of like every geologist who has ever existed. Lol
