Satellites

To have a sphere of friends
In high orbit, above, around
Like satellites in good repair
With clear sight lines to the ground
Send them signals, they bounce back
Invisible and without sound
Moves me at the speed of light
To a place where I am found

I’ve been getting most of my needs for friendships met online these days and I thought a bit of metaphor was in order. Two layers here.

Nothing is perfect; or everything is. I’m divided on that still but I’ll gladly accept such high praise. Thank you kindly!

A rather clever little piece.
I get the metaphor, though can't help but think said "satellites" may not be as shiny and in good a repair as we'd all like,,,,,,

Good stuff,

Obi.

come when we least expect them- whether online or in person. Another great, short write.

way to be thought of, as a satellite! I am probably, one of the oldest ones up there now! As Obie says, I am probably not too bright and shiny anymore, but I hope that my signal is still coming in nice and strong. ~ Geez.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Bright and shiny in my book.
