Sal Dare, Sub Luna
Self control is holy currency
with which one can buy the world.
Hold the power over feelings
yet validate their pain;
their joy.
Kindness knows boundaries.
Families do too.
Inner peace is costly;
should be guarded with vigilance,
while being enjoyed ravenously,
never squandered into thankless hands.
Callous clutches will never hold tranquility
as long as the sun rises and sets.
Cruel words, like crooked arrows
will never find a target
in the heart of the self aware
or ever reach inviting shores
or favorable tides
under the blessings of the loving moon.

Self control...
is what I have in abundance. it is the beat of what Steven and I disagree. He thinks sometimes that it is stubbornness on my part. I really loved your poem.

We agree...
nothing better than self-control. You make a very good case for controlling one's environment. ~ Geez...

I love this!
Hey Tim,
I really love this! The part about guarding inner peace is 100% true! It's so easy to lose. Interesting title- what does it mean?
As always, a pleasure to read your work. Well done Xxx

To give salt under the moon
Salt has been traded as currency and valued as long as history goes back. The word “salary” comes from the Latin word sal meaning “salt”. Roman legionaries may have been given some of their wages in the form of salt. Probably where the saying “not worth his salt” comes from.

self control VS loss of tolerance
I don't know which one will win at times.
Hi Tim, I'm at a loss for the first part of your title. Is it a name? Other than English I can't find another language for it and it has the dictionary stumped as well. So do tell please.
The last 4 lines are my favorites,
Mark

dearest Tim,
self-control is such a big part of my everyday life. it gives me dominance over my physical pain. my favorite lines of your poem are:
in the heart of the self aware
or ever reach inviting shores
or favorable tides
under the blessings of the loving moon.
