Rain

Do you ever feel like rain?
Unable to stick to anything
Instead, you make everything around you seem gloomy wherever you go

Sometimes I feel like rain…
I cannot seem to stick to anything
Unlike snow
Every time I try to
I slip and fall onto the muddy wet ground
When the sun comes out
It tries to lift me up
I fall again
I cannot seem to do anything to change it

But only if you look at it that way…
Rain can make way for new life
When you fall instead of sticking
It means you were not meant to stick
But to flow into a river changing the atmosphere around you
Rain is never alone
It gathers up into a puddle, stream, lake, river, into a vast ocean
So, do not wish to be snow, ice, or anything else
Instead, look at yourself
And see what you can accomplish
Or you might miss the chance of a lifetime

I appreciate moderate constructive criticism
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
When I wrote this poem it was in winter. I looked out my kitchen window and saw one side was full of raindrops and the other was full of ice and snow. I started to compare myself to the dripping water and how many other people feel the same. I like to write about the things around us and compare them to ourselves or other things that I find important to write about. I hope you enjoy this poem!

Comments

Welcome to Neopoet. Your poem was fun to read and also made me think (Thanks for the headache lol). My only suggestion is to try and condense some of the longest line for purely visual reasons. But pay me little heed as free verse is not my forte. Others here are better qualified. BTW if you need help navigating here or have any questions feel free to holler

slick!
