Positions of feelings

You can walk from a mirror
To leave the past behind
Directly to another
It brings the past in sight
A reflection, not perfection
No deception - your life
You can walk along a rope
A rope that is tight
You make a mistake
You hit rock bottom
Then you bounce back
And life, you have cracked
Good things you’ve gotten
Nothing you lack

Last few words:
Learning from mistakes.

Hello, Michael,
Inspiring words. I especially like "A reflection. not perfection." There is a nice, even rhythm here that adds to the matter-of-fact tone of the poem.
Thank you,
L

was inspired by the mirror I looked into and reaslised what a mess i am these days from drink. and the point it that running from ur problems never works

from someone that has been down that road. A lot of people say that "You don't know what you're talking about, until you've walked in my shoes." Even when someone who is or has been there, they claim that their circumstances are unique/ different!
You have identified the problem, without the added; "I'm different" and put the blame squarely where it belongs. Running from your problems. It takes courage to admit that you are in trouble and need to change. I hope that you continue to stay sober, and your life will improve. Really nothing to change, I like it! ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

It’s very socially acceptable and it’s about the most damaging drug on the planet. Opiates and Meth are reeking havoc in my city but not everyone gets into that route. Drinking is way to cavalier in our society. I’m coming up on my sober date next month. January 25, 2016. So I’ll be seven years alcohol free. I do not miss it.

which is your city?

I don’t live there. I live where the urban and suburban sprawl of Providence starts to become woods. I’m currently on hiatus from performing live music and I’m not that excited about the prospect of having my gear stolen or getting hit with a stray bullet. There was a shooting downstairs from a club I was performing in once. We were a loud rock band so we never even heard the gunshots. It’s gotten worse in the last 3 years.
