Only the Beginning
You wrote that sentence you really should end
But there are more ideas that you need to defend
So instead of dotting a period onto the page
You put down a semicolon and continue to engage
Life is a lot like a book, an autobiography, if you will
Each chapter is filled with anger so strong you could kill
Or maybe every paragraph holds unimaginable pain
That shatters your tender heart and numbs your brain
Sometimes each chapter feels like the very last word
You would rather be pierced by a long jagged sword
When you're ready to say 'this is how my story will end'
Remember, you can't break but you can always bend
Our stories never hold a period until our last day
Even when ink floods from your pen, you will be okay
When you're helpless and drawing up your final list
Take a deep breath and whisper 'It's just a plot twist'
Life is a series of semicolons, of chances to keep going
It's just a short chapter when the pain is mind-blowing
When you feel like throwing away the story you're penning
Remember what seems like the end is Only the Beginning

Your poem is a beautiful reminder that life is a series of semicolons, not periods. The way you use punctuation to convey the message is impressive. The metaphor of life being an autobiography with each chapter representing different emotions is powerful.
One suggestion I have is to consider changing "numbs your brain" to "numbing your brain" in the fourth stanza. This small edit will create a smoother flow and match the verb tense.
Overall, your poem is an uplifting read that encourages us to keep going despite the pain. The final line, "Remember what seems like the end is Only the Beginning," is a poignant way to end the piece. Thank you for sharing your work.
