Nostalgic twilight

I've been staring in the mirror where the pieces are cracked, waiting on a life that I'll never get back, pulling on my memories desperate for any slack. But no amount of struggle can get me over being so attached, so once again I take a deep breath, & dive into all the black

Another day high on nostalgia & sentimentality
Still can't pause this clock on a intimate reality
Unlike Adam & Eve in their garden of sexuality
As we're just sand on the beach of immortality
All pretending god to be our own abnormality
Yet really life's a collective of dreams in totality

So If I could,
I'd Dream me back to my skinned up knees
The old analog TV's & the VHS before DVDs
Radio over cassettes before burning CDs
Before it was legal & I was still burning trees
To find the reflection in my splitting of the seas

Still when did all mans dreams become virtual
Worshiping materials that make life so hurtful
Looking through filters to turn blue into purple
First you gotta watch a 30 second commercial
Don't worry this test is just another rehearsal
To feed you more thought that's controversial
Until you're all universal to being nonverbal

Ah, Communication! that's what I must miss!
When family used to hug, say I love you & kiss
When dreams were alive & on stars we'd wish
Out on the old lake with my sister catching fish
Time didn't matter in those moments of bliss
I was able to dismiss the overwhelming abyss
& just appreciate life in the presence it exists...
