Mystery Meat...

The barbecue is all set
A new chef in charge of meat!

He’s cooking up a new recipe
They’ll really have a treat!

Of course, it’s a secret recipe!
It couldn’t be any other way

And as long as they don’t know it
He knows just what they’ll say

This stuff is so damn tasty!
Can I have your recipe?

“I’m sorry folks, it ain’t happening
It belongs to only me

Enjoy the tangy sauce I made
Wash it down with beer

The kids need another burger
Put your plate right over here

The steaks are so delicious man
But the cuts are kinda obscure

The homemade sausage is worth dying for
The cook thinks that, that’s for sure

Where did you ever get
This meat that’s so damned good?

I get it from some folks
In my neighborhood

Visions of a body
Stripped of all it’s glory

A rictus grin upon it’s face
To most, it would be gory

But Killer knows, that fresh meat
Is the key to cooking great

And you must never let them know
Just what it was they ate!

What did you think of my title?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Last few words:
This just came to me after recieving an invite to a barbecue at my sister's. Thanks to a couple of suggestions, I have made a few changes. I hope it is a little tastier!

Johnson Brats instead of Johnsonville? lol......................stan

but Killer doesn't have any qualms about bad adults. There used to be some Johnsons in the neighborhood, but they suddenly disappeared. They used to have loud parties and sold crack all night long, so the rest of the community doesn't miss them much. lol. ~ Gee

Killer loves the same meat as me, it's known as Long Pig and has been around since humons began. Ask killer it saved a Rugby team once up in the Andes and the Donovan Caravan in the USA high sierra well as needs must... I will never be a veggie, Yours Sparrow

There are also many unpublished occasions when Long Pig has kept someone alive. Have to have you over for lunch sometime. LOL ~ Gee

If only Humon's had a wish bone, a rack of ribs and Botox steaks,
Had a secret take away the other night and it tasted of Botox and Plastic LOL.
It is best to retire to the Southern Seas as the norm is not ruined by such rubbish.. Saying that I wonder what those little bits of plastic that are polluting the Pacific are from, maybe the remains of one of those expensive Ocean cruises and they never told us it had been lost lol,
Take care I am experimenting with Long Pig Jerky at the moment but the Summer here is too wet, Yours Ian.T

as soon as i read that killer was in charge of the meat i refused my invite :)

love the write - but the theme was given away from the start
just imho i think it might have worked better if we didn't find out until the end who was cooking

to think about that.
The idea does appeal to me; to spring it on you at the last minute.
Thanks for the suggestion. love ya, ~ Gee

Could you put that there was a "new chef in charge of meat" ???

The barbecue is all set
Killer’s in charge of meat!

to Judy, it is an appealing idea;
to let you know at the last,
that Killer is in charge of the meat. I will think about it some more.

thanks, ~ Gee

Just playing to the tune of this nasty creature that loves the same as I ,
I never wait for people to die, Yours circling way up high,
Yours, Gyps fulvus "Yum,Yum" I will fill my tum.

Your last words can tell them it is not I
But the killer, that you have let loose and he draws nigh..

And you must never let them know
That the Killer served them up so

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” — W.B. Yeats

written just before the last summer barbecue of the summer, at my sister's. The barbecue never happened, but the first one of next season will be visited by "Killer". My whole family likes "Killer". My mom says that she knows that it is a harmless way to express the feelings of my outrage at the evilness of the world, but I sometimes wonder if she's thinking about the sanity of her oldest-boy.
